YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Food Marks & Spencer’ s strawberry clotted cream has solved our scone dilemmas By You Magazine - June 4, 2020 It’s the question the nation has never quite been able to agree on – should you put jam or cream on your scone first? Devon argues for clotted cream followed by jam, while Cornwall natives champion the opposite, and even if you don’t hail from either of those areas, you’ve probably got a pretty strong opinion on the subject. However, Marks & Spencer’s innovative new food hall launch might just have ended the debate once and for all: meet the new M&S strawberry clotted cream, one of the most delicious yet controversial scone toppings we’ve ever encountered. View this post on Instagram A post shared by M&S (@marksandspencer) The game-changing spread is new to M&S stores across the country, and will make a novel addition to any afternoon tea celebrations you might be planning at home. April Preston, Director of Product Development for the company, says: ‘Jam first or cream first, there’s no doubt this question makes for a healthy debate amongst cream tea fans up and down the country. I’m a proud Devonian, so up until now I’ve always slathered my cream on first, before adding jam. M&S ‘Now, all I need is our Collection Strawberry Clotted Cream to have the best of both worlds, it is quite simply heaven on a scone. So next time you indulge in an afternoon tea, try it the M&S way and let us know if you have been converted! I know I am.’ The M&S strawberry clotted cream is made Langage Farm in Devonshire, where clotted cream has been the speciality for more than 40 years. The recipe combines milk from Jersey and Guernsey cows with a strawberry compote and mini fruit pieces, and the finished product is as good slathered on scones as it is for dunking your fresh berries. M&S The product is causing quite the debate on social media, with some saying it’s a summer dream come true, and others deeming it plain ‘wrong’, and some even suggesting it looks like salmon paste or taramasalata. But ultimately, the proof will be in the taste test – so will you be picking up a tub on your next visit in store?
