Video footage that emerged showing the officer restraining the 46-year-old and kneeling on his neck, despite his protestations that he couldn’t breathe, have provided a shocking reminder of the systemic racism that is still so prevalent in society, and has led to civil unrest across the globe. Social media is awash with posts in support of the anti-racism movement, and this is important to raise awareness and prompt discussion, but it’s only the start of what needs to be done.
