Not only are there a load of reliable websites nowadays, but we know we can always quickly pop out to the high street and find a Boots or Superdrug store to pick up whatever bits we need. That’s one of the reasons why it’s so great to see that Superdrug will be rolling out a new skin advice and treatment service in stores over the coming weeks. Alamy Stock Photo For the first time in any high street pharmacy store, Superdrug is training pharmacists to provide support for a range of skin conditions. If appropriate, they will then be able to prescribe special medicines that you wouldn’t find over the counter. The scheme aims to make skincare advice more accessible to everyone. Because of this, consultations will be on a walk-in basis and totally free of charge. The retailer is expecting to see a lot of acne and eczema cases, as they are two of the most common skin conditions in the UK. Superdrug’s research found that 95 per cent of those aged 11-30 have been affected by acne, while one in 12 adults have eczema. More than half of adults have seen a doctor about a visible skin condition, but people are less likely to seek help because of the lack of appointment availability and waiting lists. The research also found two thirds of people feel self-conscious about their skin. Nearly half have lost confidence due to their skin, 41 per cent feel embarrassed by it and 24 per cent have stopped socialising because they felt so bad about it. Superdrug has partnered with influencers like Karishma Leckraz, Betty Traore and Adam Lamb to showcase their skin without makeup or filters, to normalise common concerns. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Adam Lamb Skincare (@adamrobertlamb) Dr Sara Kayat, a Superdrug ambassador, hopes the new skin advice service will ‘allow people to live more confidently in the skin they’re in as well as helping to treat their skin conditions.’ Caris Newson, head of healthcare services at Superdrug, said: ‘Our new service will hopefully go some way in giving people an easy and convenient way to get professional help, advice or treatment for their skin, simply by visiting their local high street Superdrug pharmacy.’ RELATED ARTICLESMORE FROM AUTHOR You could get paid to test Liberty’ s Beauty Advent Calendar People are obsessed with this Revlon hair drying tool A new drop of Boots Star Gifts has landed for Christmas 2022 Popular in Beauty People are seriously impressed with Primark’ s £8 skinny curling tongs December 16, 2019 Boots is giving away free lipsticks to celebrate the launch of January 23, 2020 This long-lasting eyebrow product is getting rave reviews and is just June 21, 2021 These Liz Earle gift sets are on sale just in time March 5, 2020 WIN A Kiehl’ s skincare heroes bundle worth £104 July 24, 2020 Cult skincare brand Sunday Riley is branching out into hair products April 24, 2020 Superdrug is holding a huge BOGOF sale on all cosmetics for May 28, 2020 Your salon could charge you extra for overgrown roots and bad June 25, 2020 Facial steamers Why searches for this beauty gadget were up 400 July 10, 2020 Lush subscription boxes have arrived and they contain exclusive new products August 3, 2020 Popular CategoriesFood2704Life2496Fashion2240Beauty1738Celebrity1261Interiors684 Sign up for YOUMail Thanks for subscribing Please check your email to confirm (If you don't see the email, check the spam box) Fashion Beauty Celebrity Life Food Privacy & Cookies T&C Copyright 2022 - YOU Magazine.
