And it’s one to pay attention to, because otherwise you could lose a lot of your hard-earned points! Getty Images A quick recap on how the loyalty scheme works: you earn four points for every £1 you spend in store and online. One point is equivalent to 1p to be spent at Boots, which doesn’t sound a lot, but if you shop at the store regularly the points soon start to add up. Currently, points only expire if you don’t use the card for two years. However Boots has now announced that as of 20 June 2022, points will expire if the Advantage Card is not used after just one year. Getty Images The news caused a stir among Advantage Card holders. The retailer announced the change via an email to Advantage Card members, which read: ‘From 20th June 2022 we will remove Boots Advantage Card points from accounts that haven’t been used for one year, instead of the current two-year period. ‘As long as you shop with your Boots Advantage Card at least once a year, your points will always be there ready for you to use them.’ Before you freak out, it’s worth reiterating that Advantage points don’t simply expire after one year – so long as you use your card to collect points when making in-store and online purchases at Boots at least once a year, your points will continue to stack up. Phew! Getty Images You can check your current points balance online by logging in here. Or, if you’re yet to register for a Boots Advantage Card, you can sign up here. Some shoppers were annoyed to find that their points had already been wiped from their account ahead of the proposed June date, however Boots has confirmed that this was a technical glitch, points will be restored to affected accounts and the new one-year expiry period will not be put in place until 20 June. Meanwhile, if you love shopping at Boots, you need to know about the Boots £10 Tuesday sale that happens every week – it’s a budget beauty fan’s shopping dream!
