It’s the Duchess’s impeccable sense of style that has led to ‘the Kate effect’, where anything she wears immediately sparks a buying frenzy among those keen to emulate her look. Imagine the excitement then for small business owner Hayley Jones, who creates gorgeous jewellery at a small studio in the heart of Wales, when the Duchess of Cambridge first wore designs from her brand Spells of Love. In fact, Kate has worn a particular pair of earrings – the Alia hoops – a whopping seven times, and they have also been spotted on fashion icon Kendall Jenner. Alia hoops, £79, Spells of Love ‘It has been so incredible having HRH The Duchess of Cambridge and Kendall Jenner wear my earrings’ says Hayley. ‘I still cannot believe it, it’s still so surreal. I don’t think it will ever fully sink in!’ Of course, with megastar backing it’s no wonder these earrings – which are made from recycled materials and 18ct gold – are hard to keep in stock. In fact, they have an 1,000-strong waiting list, and shoppers can currently pre-order them online to get hold of a pair once they’re restocked. Hayley describes the royal seal of approval as an ‘honour’ and adds: ‘As a small, two-person business, it has really helped put us on the map. We have had orders globally, from countries I would have never expected to know who we are.
