YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Food A Lancashire restaurant has just been voted the best in the UK By You Magazine - June 12, 2019 With so many restaurants to chose from, it can be hard to pick your favourite – let alone decide on which is the best in the entire country. But that’s exactly what a group of experts did at The Estrella Damm National Restaurant Awards 2019 earlier this week. Moor Hall If you had to guess, most of us would assume the winning eatery was based in London, seeing as it is the capital city. However, we were pleasantly surprised that it wasn’t the case this time, as the Lancashire-based Moor Hall was crowned National Restaurant of the Year. The two Michelin-starred restaurant is run by chef-patron Mark Birchall and located in Aughton, West Lancashire, where it is housed in a building that boasts stunning interior. The restaurant focuses on modern British cuisine, serving dishes like deer with elderberry, beetroot and kale and turbot with mussel cream, much of which is made by using produce grown on the five-acre site it is situated on. Prices start at around £65 per person. Moor Hall was one of 23 Northern restaurants featured in the top 100 list, marking 2019 as the year with the highest number of Northern and Scottish restaurants ranked than ever before. In fact, Shoreditch-based restaurant Brat came in right behind Moor Hall at second place, while chef Tom Brown’s Cornerstone in Hackney came in third, and the other two restaurants in the top five are in London too.
