YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Celebrity Prince Harry is fighting plastic pollution with one simple request By You Magazine - June 7, 2019 While the Duke of Sussex Prince Harry carries out his royal duties, whether it be official tour or charity events, he often spends time in the most extravagant hotels around the world. As you can imagine, some high-profile figures make truly extravagant requests of these establishments when they’re travelling – for example, Tom Cruise reportedly once tried to clear out an entire hotel simply just to have dinner by himself. However, it turns out that Prince Harry is a little more selfless when it comes to his demands – and in fact, he is thinking of the planet. When he stays at hotels, the royal apparently simply asks staff to reduce their use of plastic where they can. The Duke Of Sussex attending Founder’s Day. Experts believe that by 2050, the amount of plastic in the ocean will weigh more than the amount of fish in the ocean, and everyone from major supermarkets to consumers are doing their best to help combat the rising levels of damage. According to Harry’s close friend, Argentinian polo player Nacho Figueras, the 34-year-old is also joining the fight, by suggesting that the hotels he stays in try to cut down on the unnecessary use of plastic during his stays. Talking to CBS This Morning, Figueras spoke of a recent trip the pair took together and discussed how Harry had asked staff to reconsider certain tasks to make them more eco-friendly. He talked to a person and said, “This morning I got my coffee and I saw that you have a plastic thing on the coffee. And then I also sent my shirt and I got my shirt in a big plastic bag”.’ ‘So that’s this guy, okay. I don’t like to talk about that at all, that’s who he is. That’s who they are. No plastic.’ Both Prince and Harry and his wife Meghan have made their dedication to saving the planet known previously. Before their royal wedding in 2018, the couple published a list of charities for well-wishers to donate to instead of giving gifts and it included an environmental charity, Surfers Against Sewage.
