YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Beauty Fashion is loving this retro-inspired haircut right now By Sophie Hines - August 9, 2022 You may have only just recovered from the news that the ‘modern Rachel’ haircut is taking social media by storm, but now we have news of another big hair trend to share with you, and you definitely don’t need Jennifer Aniston’s poker straight locks to pull this one off. In fact, wavy and curly hair will fare best with this haircut trend, which has been championed by none other than Luke Hersheson. As well as being CEO of the Hershesons hair salon chain, he is also hair stylist for the likes of Sienna Miller and Dua Lipa, and therefore a man with his finger firmly on the fashion pulse. View this post on Instagram A post shared by LUKE HERSHESON (@lukehersheson) The haircut in question is a gorgeous rounded bob, which looks gloriously undone (but in the coolest way imaginable). ‘It’s quite a big hairstyle,’ Hersheson told Vogue. ‘Think voluminous and slightly layered towards the ends, so you get this kick out of hair at the back, which creates a kind of overlying volume.’ View this post on Instagram A post shared by SYD WINN (@syderoni) This is a hairstyle that’s all about celebrating natural texture and keeping things low maintenance – according to Hersheson, if the cut is done correctly then you shouldn’t need more than a quick rough dry to prep it for the day. ‘You wouldn’t use a brush with this one because you run the risk of making it feel older,’ he says. ‘It needs a kind of looseness to keep it modern, fresh and cool.’ You might be looking at this haircut and noting a distinctly 1980s vibe, in keeping with the retro revival we’re experiencing right now, which is covering everything from fashion trends to toys. Indeed, the muses behind the haircut trend include Twin Peaks star Sherilyn Fenn, above, and Kelly McGillis from 1986 movie Top Gun. Oh to have a wonderful head of curls so we could try this!
