YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Travel These UK seaside destinations are trending on Airbnb this summer By Georgia Green - August 9, 2022 Since the pandemic, many of us have chosen to continue holidaying in the UK – it’s cheaper, easier and, with flight cancellations and baggage crises at London airports, it’s a wise move to avoid travel stress too. Getty Images But where to go on these British Isles? The seaside is always a popular place to head for a week away from it all – think fish and chips on the beach, jingly ice cream vans and rock pooling all day – and some coastal towns are so idyllic you feel like you are somewhere far more exotic (especially if the weather plays ball, too). Rental booking site Airbnb has analysed who’s staying where this summer and rounded up the top 12 UK seaside destinations that are trending in 2022. Best of all is that the list is comprised of mostly lesser known destinations, rather than your obvious choices (Brighton, Blackpool etc), so it’s a great tool in determining where your next UK seaside break should be. Getty Images Top of the list and jumping up eight places from last year is Hornsea, which according to Airbnb ‘is attracting UK travellers with its quaint promenade and historical Victorian folly, making the quintessential British seaside town a must-visit this year.’ The full list is as follows… Hornsea, East Riding of Yorkshire Walton-on-the-Naze, Essex Fleetwood, Lancashire Ingoldmells, Lincolnshire Sandown, Isle of Wight Formby, Merseyside Redcar, North Yorkshire Whitley Bay, Tyne and Wear Bognor Regis, West Sussex Scarborough, North Yorkshire Newbiggin-by-the-Sea, Northumberland Bexhill-on-Sea, East Sussex Getty Images Amanda Cupples, General Manager for Northern Europe at Airbnb, says: ‘We’re continuing to see the resurgence of the Great British seaside holiday with Brits seeking coastal resorts and in particular, lesser-known destinations in all corners of the country. ‘Beyond providing British holidaymakers the opportunity to discover up-and-coming destinations across the UK this summer, Hosts on Airbnb are creating valuable income streams for themselves and their communities. Now is a great time for anyone curious about Hosting to offer a home away from home and take advantage of the bustling summer months to make some extra income.’ RELATED ARTICLESMORE FROM AUTHOR Hotel review Wyndham Residences Costa Adeje National Trust is giving away free tickets this autumn Hotel review Una St Ives Cornwall DON' T MISS Fiona Bruce Sometimes I struggle not to cry November 14, 2021 17 beautiful 2021 diaries to help you to look forward to December 4, 2020 Why women leave men for women What’ s fuelling the rise of April 28, 2019 Hollywood veteran Laura Linney on plastic surgery friendship and her stellar July 3, 2017 You can shop the khaki jumpsuit from Holly Willoughby’ s new M& S July 17, 2019 The secrets and lies behind this happy family photo April 11, 2021 It’ s cocktail hour Olly Smith’ s cocktail recipes and Eleanor Maidment s canapé November 14, 2021 BBC One has revealed its Christmas TV schedule and there’ s lots December 2, 2020 YOU Beauty Box August Reviews August 1, 2017 Rome has been named the cheapest major city to visit in August 7, 2019 Popular CategoriesFood2704Life2496Fashion2240Beauty1738Celebrity1261Interiors684 Sign up for YOUMail Thanks for subscribing Please check your email to confirm (If you don't see the email, check the spam box) Fashion Beauty Celebrity Life Food Privacy & Cookies T&C Copyright 2022 - YOU Magazine.
