YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Life There’ s going to be a Peaky Blinders film This is what we know so far By Kanika Banwait - July 29, 2022 Hit BBC show Peaky Blinders finally returned to screens in February and it’s safe to say, we were excited. The arrival of the sixth season felt bittersweet as it was confirmed it would also be the last, however, this may not be the final time we get to see the Shelbys on screen – not the small screen, anyway. Alamy That’s right, there’s going to be a Peaky Blinders film. Steven Knight, the creator of the series, has publicly addressed the upcoming movie and confirmed that ‘the story will continue in another form’ after season six. Back in January 2021, he told Deadline: ‘Covid changed our plans. But I can say that my plan from the beginning was to end Peaky with a movie. That is what is going to happen.’ READ MORE: An interview with the leading ladies of Peaky Blinders What will the plot of the Peaky Blinders film look like Firstly, we know the location is in Peaky Blinders’ heart land. ‘We’re going to shoot it at the studios in Digbeth, and on location in Digbeth in Birmingham,’ Steven told Heart FM. ‘Digbeth and Small Heath [are] where the Peaky Blinders actually roamed, so it’s like Peaky’s coming home.’ Knight has described the film’s plot as ‘a very specific story, that’s based on a true story from the Second World War and will be told in the Peaky way.’ Who will star in the Peaky Blinders film The cast list for the Peaky Blinders film is being kept well under wraps for now, but we can expect to see some of the show’s key characters returning for the big screen. Steven Knight confirmed to Digital Spy that Cillian Murphy, who plays leading man Tommy Shelby, and his on-screen brother Paul Anderson (Arthur Shelby) would both be starring in the movie project. When asked whether Tommy and Arthur would be a part of the series beyond season 6, Steven said: ‘It’s impossible to say yet. But the film – yes.’ View this post on Instagram A post shared by Peaky Blinders (@peakyblindersofficial) He continued: ‘There are so many people, so many great actors, that we are already, sort of, in conversation with for the film, and for whatever follows. But I think what we want to do is keep surprising people, and keep breaking new talent. Because it’s all out there, and there is a sort of consistency – what we’re doing is finding really good actors from a working-class sort of background, and telling that story. That’s what we’re trying to do.’ In a previous interview with Metro.co.uk, he also hinted that Stephen Graham – who appeared in the TV series – could appear in the film. ‘I’ve wanted him in [Peaky Blinders] for a long time and this series, we managed to get the schedules aligned,’ Knight said. ‘I was writing a character, set in the Liverpool Docks and I knew, it could only be him. I want to keep him as part of it, going forward.’ Who else wants to be in the film Tom Holland has also spoken about joining the Peaky Blinders gang. In an interview with LADbible, the Spiderman star revealed: ‘I actually auditioned for Peaky Blinders and I did not get the part.’ Addressing Tom’s comments at the premiere, Steven Knight told PA news agency: ‘It must have been quite a big role he was auditioning for. But if he wants to come back for the film, we’ll have him.’ Tom Holland and Cillian Murphy previously worked together in movie In The Heart Of The Sea, so this could be a great match.
