Summer babies bask in the glory of great weather and open schedules, while those born in December and January tend to end up feeling a tad overshadowed. But now a new poll has definitively revealed the best and worst days of the year to have a birthday – and you might be surprised at the results. The research, which took into account the opinions of 2,000 adults, revealed that the best day of the year to have a birthday is 15 June. Getty Images While you might have imagined July and August to be the best months to be born, June birthdays are more popular for a number of reasons; you’re likely to be lucky enough to enjoy a little sunshine, but haven’t yet hit peak holiday season, meaning everyone you love should be able to revel with you. Plus, if you celebrate your birthday on 15 June, you’re in good company – celebrities including Courteney Cox, Neil Patrick Harris, and Helen Hunt were also born on the day. However, the survey, conducted by baking brand Dr. Oetker, also revealed the worst time of year to mark the occasion – Christmas Day was voted the worst day of the year for your birthday to land, followed by a ‘leap year day’ on 29 February. Getty Images If, like Annie Lennox and Helena Christensen, you were born on 25 December, you’re probably tired of combined presents and endless parties that aren’t yours. But spare a thought for ‘leaplings’, or those born on 29 February during a leap year, who only get to officially mark their birthdays every four years. However, despite missing out on their birthday this year, in 2020 leaplings will celebrate their special day on a Saturday, which was selected as the best day of the week to have a birthday.
