YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Travel Hotel review COMO Castello Del Nero By Rosie Green - July 14, 2022 COMO Castello Del Nero: where romance meets wellness. The ultimate romantic destination, Castello Del Nero is luxury hotel come 12th Century castle in the rolling Chianti countryside. Pack your chicest bikini, this is Italy at its most stylish. With its creamy stone, soft colour palette and mix of old antiques and modern facilities, the hotel is a lesson in pared back elegance. It is cool in all senses of the word. Set in 740 acres of eye wateringly beautiful countryside, it offers an escape from every day life. The food is delicious, with dishes created from estate-to-table ingredients that are bursting with flavour. Then, if you can tear yourself away from sunbathing at the new outdoor pool, the spa is truly impressive (and this reviewer has seen a lot of them). All billowing curtains, best in class therapists and spacious fitness areas. There is a comprehensive thermal suite and luxurious treatment rooms. The spa also offers complimentary yoga classes in its sun dappled outdoor fitness area. The beautiful cities of Florence and Siena are both nearby and the hotel offers a free shuttle bus to them. Castello Del Nero hotel review Rooms and facilities All the rooms are spacious and serene. Decorated in minimalist hues with whitewashed parquet flooring, they have views over the rolling Tuscan hills. Some have 18th Century frescoes – all have comfortable beds covered in crisp white linen. A new focus on wellness, means the spa has experienced serious investment. Unlike some hotels, whose spas are hidden away in basements, the Shambhala Retreat brings the outside in. The treatments really deliver, with French brand Guinot providing facials and Shambhala providing essential oil drenched massages that’ll rejuvenate even the most stressed out souls. N.B. I had the best body scrub I’ve ever had here. Food and drink A Bellini on the sun drenched terrace at golden hour is a pinch me moment. The hotel has three restaurants. The Michelin-starred La Torre and the more relaxed Pavilion and La Taverna (the latter is a must visit for next level pasta). Wine buffs will love the cellar and for those wanting a health hit, Shambhala Cuisine is a carefully curated selection of nutritionally balanced dishes to nourish the body and soul. Hotel highlights So many – but yoga on the sun dappled spa terrace, an early evening stroll around the formal Italian gardens or the olive oil tasting. What to do Nearby Visit the nearby cities of Florence and Siena or stay closer and borrow a bike to cycle through the trails of estate. Best for Foodies, rekindling your romance or beating burn out. Room rates start from £474 per night on a bed and breakfast basis.
