YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Food Aldi has launched sizzling giant pigs in blanket kebabs and sausage whirls By You Magazine - May 21, 2020 Committed to making summer 2020 sizzle regardless of what state of lockdown we’re in, Aldi has launched two brand new sausage kebabs that are perfect for a bank holiday BBQ. Aldi While the words ‘pigs in blankets’ may immediately bring to mind images of a heaving plate of Christmas dinner, Aldi have given the classic festive treat a summer-fuelled twist by supersizing them and popping them on a kebab stick. It might seem seasonally jarring at first, but now we’ve seen them we can’t believe this hasn’t been done sooner. Sausages are integral to any British barbecue, so why not go the whole hog (sorry) and wrap 100 per cent British pork sausages in Beechwood smoked cured streaky bacon to create the ultimate handheld snackable-sized kebab? Aldi The second item new to Aldi shelves is a pack of six sausage whirls – delicately seasoned 100 per cent British pork sausages swirled and pushed onto a kebab stick, again proving that there’s so much more to be done with sausages than simply stuffing them into a hot dog bun. No one wants to be messing around with cutlery at a barbecue, which is why these handheld sausages on sticks will be a welcome addition to any back garden BBQ this summer, as well as the perfect midweek tea time treat. Aldi Aldi suggest starting both sausage kebabs off in the oven (the pigs in blankets for 22-26 minutes, the sausage whirls for 14-18 minutes) before transferring to a piping hot BBQ for the final five minutes to capture the smoky flavour of the grill. Both packs are available in stores now for just £1.99, making them a purse-friendly addition to any BBQ meal – the pigs in blankets come in packs of four while the whirls are in packs of six. And what to serve your new favourite sausages on? Aldi’s brand new tropical printed bamboo dining set, of course! And when it gets chilly in the evenings you can gather round one of Aldi’s impressive fire pits or log burners. Summer barbecues, sorted.
