YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Celebrity Streaming service Britbox has officially launched in the UK By You Magazine - November 7, 2019 Earlier this year, it was revealed that the BBC and ITV had joined forces to create their own streaming service, and it’s now finally ready to use. The very fittingly named BritBox, which is already available in the US and Canada with over half a million subscribers, is a streaming platform where viewers can watch the best of British TV. Initially created by BBC and ITV, it’s also been confirmed that Channel 4 and Channel 5 will also supply programmes for the app. BBC Bringing all of our favourite boxsets together in one place – from Love Island to Broadchurch to Downton Abbey, Britbox features both old and new shows from the channels. You can even watch daily highlights from shows like Good Morning Britain. Membership for the streaming service costs £5.99. Just like other streaming services, the monthly fee will cover multiple screens and devices, and to celebrate its arrival, you can start your subscription with a 30 day free trial. BBC Reemah Sakaan, ITV’s group director for streaming, said: ‘It’s got the widest range of UK box sets of any service.’ ‘Ostensibly the other streamers are US-focused so they make dramas for the US market, whereas BritBox is the faces, people and places that you know.’ Britbox ‘For some time we’ve been bringing our shows back home and now that we’ve got a destination in BritBox, that’s something we’ll be doing more actively. We’ll still be working in partnership with Netflix and Amazon and all of the other streamers.’ Reports so far suggest BritBox will also not replace the individual streaming platforms of each channel: ‘Shows are not expected to appear on BritBox until they have dropped off the BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub and All 4, which do not require paid subscriptions,’ says the BBC.
