YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Fashion M& S relaunches bestselling jean styles in new sustainable collection By Georgia Green - March 7, 2022 Knowing how bad the fashion industry’s environmental impact is, it’s hard to know where to spend your money these days. On the one hand we’re all trying to watch our wardrobe’s carbon footprint, but on the other hand not everyone can afford to shop from pricey independent brands that can tout multiple sustainability credentials. Thankfully, the high street is starting to take note and produce better quality clothing that doesn’t damage the environment so much. One such brand is M&S, which has recently launched a sustainable capsule jeans collection. M&S Mom High Waisted Jeans With Recycled Cotton, £39.50, M&S The British high street giant has partnered with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s Jeans Redesign project, which sets out guidelines that encourage ‘leading brands, mills and manufacturers to transform the way jeans are made. Based on the principles of a circular economy, they’re a blueprint for collective action to scale circular practices,’ reads the website. M&S Boyfriend Jeans With Recycled Cotton, £39.50, M&S So Marks & Spencer has relaunched two of its best-selling jean styles, the Mom jeans and Boyfriend jeans, with sustainability in mind. The M&S sustainable jeans collection is made with recycled cotton and features twist-off buttons for easier recycling. Metal rivets have been replaced with secure stitching, which also aids recycling. They’ve been designed to last longer, too – the jeans have been rigorously tested to make sure they still look and feel great after 30 washes. M&S ‘Through adopting The Jeans Redesign’s guidelines, we’ve created jeans that are made to be used more, made to be made again, and made from safe and recycled, or renewable inputs,’ reads the M&S website. Both styles are available in light indigo and dark indigo and cost £39.50, which is the same as M&S’s regular Mom and Boyfriend jeans cost, so it’s a no-brainer to opt for the more sustainable version.
