Well now that Covid travel restrictions have eased for the most part, we bet people aren’t hanging around to jet off on holiday and make up for the past two years. If the thought of being too far away from home still feels a bit risky to you, or you just don’t want to be sat on a plane for hours, there are loads of lovely beaches closer to home. In fact, TripAdvisor has ranked the best beaches in Europe as part of its 2022 Traveller’s Choice Awards and four of them are in the UK. Check these out for holiday inspiration… The 10 best beaches in Europe 1. Spiaggia dei Conigli, Lampedusa, Islands of Sicily Getty Images A TripAdvisor review said: ‘One of the marvels of the world. White sand beach, turquoise water, cooling sea breeze. Prepare for a 20-minute walk to get to the beach, but once you are there you feel like you’re not on Earth.’ 2. Praia da Falesia, Olhos de Agua, Portugal Getty Images One TripAdvisor review said: ‘Gorgeous red sand cliffs lead to the green-blue ocean and a white sand beach that seemingly stretches forever.’ 3. Playa de Muro Beach, Playa de Muro, Spain Getty Images Great for: Family fun and shallow waters. 4. Nissi Beach, Ayia Napa, Cyprus Getty Images Clear, shallow water means people can walk over to another island. 5. Balos Lagoon, Kissamos, Greece Getty Images One TripAdvisor review said: ‘Feels like another planet. A breathtaking place with a lagoon on one side and a beach on the other.’ 6. Kleftiko Beach, Milos, Cyclades Getty Images Great for: snorkelling and boat tours 7. Luskentyre, Isle of Harris, Lewis and Harris, Outer Hebrides Getty Images One TripAdvisor review called it ‘one of the most magical beaches in the world’. 8. Bamburgh Beach, Bamburgh, United Kingdom Getty Images Great for: Picturesque castle views 9. Sotavento Beach, Costa Calma, Spain Getty Images Great for: fine white sand, quiet and uncrowded shore. 10. Spiaggia di Cala Rossa, Isola di Favignana, Aegadian Islands Getty Images Great for: crystal clear water and gorgeous scenery. Also on TripAdvisor’s list is the UK’s own Porthminster Beach in St Ives and Weymouth Beach.
