We’ll be the first to admit that we can’t resist showing off our best angles (especially on a night out with friends) in a well-lit selfie – be it for a main grid Instagram post or a filtered flick for stories. But what if we told that all the selfie-ing was somehow making you age faster? Getty Images Well, new research by Avon UK has suggested exactly that, with the revelation that Brits are ageing themselves by exposing their faces to the light on their mobile phones when taking selfies. Yes, that’s right, we may have unwittingly all been undoing all the work our anti-ageing beauty products have been doing by indulging in more and more snaps. The new research found that only one in ten of adults in the UK are aware that the light from a mobile phone can age you, yet a quarter of 18-34 year olds spend seven hours or more per day on their mobile phone. That means many of us are doing so without being aware of the damaging effects it could have on our skin. This is heightened when combined with other ageing factors such as increased exposure to pollution, stress, lack of sleep, insufficient water consumption, smoking and a dependency on caffeine, all of which contribute to the issue. Avon Anew Vitamin C Radiance Maximising Serum, £14, Avon To tackle this, the experts at Avon have developed an innovative and high concentrate Vitamin C skincare range which has been specifically designed to help counteract the damaging consequences of our tech-heavy lifestyles. The ANEW Vitamin C launched on Avon last month and is rich in antioxidants, anti-ageing and radiance-boosting benefits. In fact, the range is already so popular that one bottle of the ANEW Vitamin C Radiance Boosting Serum, which is priced at £14, is sold every minute.
