YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Travel Explore everything Interlaken has to offer with a stay at Victoria Jungfrau By You Magazine - June 2, 2019 If you feel like you have exhausted every rainy-day activity in the UK and are fed up of the temperamental weather, why not take a trip to Switzerland? Whether it is to take advantage of the renowned health spas, try your hand at some adventure sports or if only to visit the chocolate and cheese shops – this is the place to go for an all-activity or all-leisure holiday. Sitting pride of place in the small town of Interlaken, Switzerland, Victoria Jungfrau is nestled between two pristine lakes – with rooms looking out to the snow-capped peak of Jungfrau and paragliders dotted in the sky. The hotel offers up the most impressive scenes. From the train journey into the town, you will see views so picturesque a photo couldn’t begin to do it justice. Victoria Jungfrau. Image: Stefano Candito A mix of old and new, Victoria Jungfrau has combined two hotels, which have stood for more than 150 years, and taken on a modern twist. It is a place of grandeur and opulence without being overwhelming. From the modern black and gold décor in the foyer to the chandeliers hanging in marble hallways, with every corner you turn there is a new detail to take in. There are 216 rooms, all elegant and timeless in varied shades and design, where neoclassical furnishings meet modern amenities (including USB points for when you forget your adaptor). The generous-sized rooms all overlook the mountains – they will be hard to leave! Victoria Jungfrau has combined two hotels, which have stood for more than 150 years, and taken on a modern twist. Image: Stefano Candito Where to eat, you ask? For breakfast you can head down to the La Terrasse restaurant and you will feel as though you’ve hopped out of Switzerland and into a sophisticated French orangery, surrounded by palms and gilded parrots. The décor will almost make you forget how hungry you are – but the buffet offers hot and cold breakfast, with as many rounds as you like to set you up for your day ahead. Surrounded by palms. Image: Stefano Candito For lunch and dinner you can head back to La Terrasse and put on your best frock for sophisticated French cuisine or if you’re in need of something a little more casual, Ristorante Sapori will hit the spot with a lengthy list of Italian dishes. If you are just in the mood for a glass of rosé or an Old Fashioned, find a seat on the sun-drenched terrace or if the snow is falling in full force, take yourself to the cosy lounge (indoor) Victoria bar. Other than its centrepiece, a skylit indoor swimming pool – there are also steam baths, saunas, an outdoor saltwater pool with thermal jets and relaxation rooms (including a separate ladies-only area). Nescens, a pioneer of Swiss anti-ageing and holistic approach, offers individual-focused diagnostics with specialists, rejuvenating cosmetic treatments and therapies as well as personal training and detox plans. If you are looking for a less invasive, relaxed afternoon, soothing SENSAI treatments infused with silk and healing Japanese springs water take place in a contemporary cocoon-style treatment area. Whether you explore at a leisurely pace or dive into the action, the town has you covered with its fair share of places to visit and things to do, come snow or shine. You can sail away on a relaxing cruise on the turquoise Lake Brienz and deep blue Lake Thun, watch the rushing waterfalls and visit the historic castles and magnificent buildings. Go shopping in the urban, bustling centre, with winding streets and heritage-protected architecture. They have a vibrant culture; find the open-air theatres, concerts or watch creative musicals. Overall however, Interlaken is the number one adventure destination: fuel your adrenaline with exhilarating bungee jumping, skydiving, canyoning, white-water rafting, climbing, hiking and much more. Book now for your 2019/20 winter holiday. From skiing to night sledding there is fun for all the family and after a full day of activities you can go back to Victoria Jungfrau to restore your energy levels and relax.
