YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Life Woman reveals ‘ secret button’ function on the back of iPhones By Kanika Banwait - July 1, 2022 We love a life hack – anything to make the day that little bit simpler. From what to do with silica gel packets to how to tell if your hair straighteners have expired, there’s so much undercover information out there that we can’t believe we ever lived without. The next top tip we’ve discovered is all about the secret ‘back tap’ button on your iPhone. It seems like with each new iPhone the Apple gods create, the mobile loses a button and gains a camera lens. But it turns out there’s a ‘secret button’ on the back of iPhones that many of us didn’t know about before. Alamy TikTok user @ellyawesometech revealed the iPhone ‘back tap’ feature, which has actually existed for years, but many people haven’t noticed it. Elly starts the video by saying: ‘You’re using your iPhone wrong if you’re not using the back tap feature. Yes, there’s a secret button on the back of your iPhone.’ The tech-savvy user then explains they use it for Shazam – an app that finds the name of songs – by simply tapping on the back of their phone. @ellyawesometech Back Tap is an insane hidden iPhone feature! ? #iphonetips #iphonetricks #apple #techtok #tech #ellyawesome original sound – ellyawesometech To enable this smart feature, you go into your iPhone settings app, tap accessibility, then tap touch. Scroll down to the bottom where you’ll find the ‘back tap’ option. There, you can choose whether you want a double or triple tap activation, and select which shortcuts you want it to work for. If you have AirPods, it’s similar to how you program them to skip or pause a song by tapping them. That means you can use the hidden back tap to do a whole bunch of stuff, like opening apps, taking photos, locking your screen or turning on the torch. However, this function only exists on iPhones updated with iOS 14 software and on devices that came out after the iPhone 6. Our minds are blown!
