Getty Images This means it’s expected that one day he will become King. Not any time soon of course, but with his ninth birthday approaching next month, it’s likely George has a strong idea of what his future holds. But how exactly do you break news of that magnitude to a child? While it has never been officially confirmed, royal biographer Robert Lacey wrote in an update version of his book, Battle of Brothers: ‘William has not revealed to the world how and when he broke the big news to his son. Maybe one day George will tell us the story himself. Getty Images ‘But sometime around the boy’s seventh birthday in the summer of 2020, it is thought that his parents went into more detail about what the little prince’s life of future royal “service and duty” would particularly involve.’ Reports suggest that William wants his children to discover their special roles in a more structured way than he did. Lacey writes that William was unhappy with ‘the haphazard fashion in which the whole business of his royal destiny had buzzed around his head from the start.’ Getty Images Additionally, Royal commentator Rhiannon Mills told the Express: ‘You can’t forget that Prince George is hugely important as a future heir to the throne and inevitably there is, over the coming years, going to be more and more focus on him.
