YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Celebrity Prince William reveals the song that reminds him of his mother By You Magazine - December 6, 2021 Ever wanted to ramble with a royal? Well, the Apple Fitness+ audio programme Time To Walk just made that almost a reality for all of us, as Prince William was the podcast’s latest guest, revealing all manner of childhood memories and musical preferences. Instagram/@dukeandduchessofcambridge Time To Walk allows listeners to ‘take a walk’ with a famous guest – for his episode Prince William takes a stroll around the royal family’s Sandringham estate in Norfolk – while they share tales and anecdotes from their life, as well as sharing three songs that are most meaningful to them. One of the songs the Duke of Cambridge chose was Tina Turner’s ‘Simply The Best’, because it reminded him of his late mother, Princess Diana, driving him and his brother, Prince Harry, back to boarding school after the holidays, belting out the lyrics together at the top of their voices. ‘Sitting in the back seat and singing away, it felt like a real family moment,’ he said. ‘When I listen to it now it takes me back to those car rides and brings back lots of memories of my mother.’ View this post on Instagram A post shared by Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (@dukeandduchessofcambridge) Prince William also revealed that he loves to listen to AC/DC’s ‘Thunderstruck’ on a Monday morning to get himself pumped up for the week ahead. He explained: ‘There’s nothing better, when you’re a bit bleary-eyed after the weekend and trying to get yourself back into the grind of the week, than listening to ‘Thunderstruck’. ‘It absolutely wakes you up, puts your week in the best mood possible, and you feel like you can take on anything and anyone… It’s a difficult song not to dance to or to nod along to.’ William also spoke of how his love of music has been passed on to his children, admitting there’s a daily ‘massive fight’ between Charlotte and George for what song is playing. The royal kids’ current favourite tune? ‘Waka Waka’ by Shakira. He speaks candidly about childhood memories, such as trying not to giggle in church on Christmas Day, as well as formative memories of his mother taking him to a homeless shelter to make sure he understood what life was like outside of a royal lifestyle. Time To Walk is normally only available to those with an Apple Watch, but for the first time Apple has made this episode available for everyone to hear, completely free. Just tune into the Apple Music 1 radio station on the Apple Music app, accessible via an iPhone, iPad, Mac or Android phone. Its first play was at 8am this morning and it will be broadcast again at 4pm and 9pm today.
