YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Life Kindred the new dating app designed for people who don’ t want children By Kanika Banwait - February 10, 2022 It seems like dating gets more and more difficult as the years go on. What once consisted of approaching a person and asking if they wanted to hang out, has now become a lengthy game of ‘will they match with me?’, and when you do get a match on dating apps, it becomes, ‘will we go on a date or just exchange messages until one of us gets bored?’ We increasingly want to know what we’re getting into before agreeing to date someone, from physical assets like their height and age, to their education and Covid vaccination status. As pernickity as it may seem, it does make sense to cut the wheat from the chaff as it were, and save your time for someone who has potential to be ‘the one’. READ MORE: The four dating trends predicted for 2022 Getty Images One of the key factors people may consider when looking for a partner is whether that person wants to have children or not. Some dating apps have options to state your child situation – whether you’re already a parent, would like to become one eventually, or never want kids. Now, there’s a brand new dating app that’s been designed especially for the latter. Dating app Kindred aims to offer a ‘fresh solution to those seeking kid-free relationships’. Launching on 10 February, it’s designed for those who either don’t want or can’t have children, taking out the sometimes awkward conversation that can occur later in a relationship. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Kindred (@kindreddating) Considering over one third of Britons who aren’t already parents have said they never want to have children, this seems like a great idea. Kindred was designed by Eleanor Brook-Hatch and Philip Wassouf who themselves met on a dating app during the pandemic. ‘Ele and I have used all the well-known dating apps over the years,’ said Philip. ‘We struggled to connect with other singles who wanted to date and settle down without the pressures of having kids and, after digging deeper, realised we weren’t the only ones, by a long shot. ‘Even though there are almost three million single-parent families, many of whom don’t want more kids, and almost half of British women now hit 30 and are kid-free and we’re still underserved by mainstream dating apps.’ Kindred/The App Store Eleanor added: ‘More people than ever are looking for a kid-free relationship and we created Kindred to remove the need for the kids conversation and to connect singles whether they’re child-free, childless or parents. ‘Comments like “you’ll change your mind” or “you just haven’t met the right person yet” are about as welcome as dick pics for those of us looking for kid-free relationships, yet that’s all too often the response from people… Everyone on the app [Kindred] is looking to meet and date fellow singles for a kid-free relationship.’ READ MORE: This is the best day to swipe (and match) on dating apps Kindred is a mostly free dating app that follows a similar format to many others. Users can filter people by lifestyle, swipe through them, and then chat if they match. The only part you have to pay for is if you’d like a membership that unlocks features like more detailed search functions and priority placement in results. If this sounds like a good idea to you, you can find out more on Kindred’s website.
