YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Fashion How to donate clothes during the pandemic By You Magazine - January 19, 2021 Now more than ever, it’s important to look after those who need our help, and donating clothing is one way you can do that. But sadly, with the current state of the country being what it is, many of the usual charity shops we would visit to drop off our donations are closed due to government lockdowns and tiered systems. Getty Images However, there are still ways you can do your bit and donate clothes; you just need to send off your stuff by an alternative means rather than dropping them off in person. The first way you can do this is by booking with a collection service. Popular home collection services such as Traid are currently closed during lockdown and in Tier 4, but will likely re-open again if and when your area goes into a lesser tier. Getty Images There are other options to donate clothes though, including icollectclothes.co.uk. Through this website, you can select which charity you’d like to donate to, and find out what your collection options are by entering your postcode. The causes on the site include Heart UK and the Breast Cancer Prevention Project. Other collection services you could check out are collectmyclothes.co.uk and donateprelovedclothes.com. Alternatively, you can donate clothing via post, if you feel safe to do so by leaving the house and popping down to the post office. There are a number of charities accepting postal donations, some of which offer free delivery options. Getty Images For example, both Cancer Research and British Heart Foundation are still accepting postal donations, and you can print labels on their websites to pop onto your parcel for free delivery. Other worthy causes include the likes of Smart Works, who are currently particularly in need of flat shoes and handbags. All you need to do to donate is fill in an online form and get your bits together to send to their donation centre. If, however, you were hoping to make some money from your unloved items, head to Cudoni. With their contact-free home collections, you can sell your luxury goods from the comfort of your own home. The best bit? Once each item has sold, you can either pocket the profit or choose to transfer the sum to a charity of your choice. So whether you post your clothing or have it collected, remember it’s still possible to help during the Covid crisis.
