From our wardrobes to our homes, our hobbies and our make-up, it’s influenced our very way of living. Speaking with Andjoa Andoh, the actress has claimed that she is ‘honoured’ to be a part of Bridgerton, the Netflix period drama and points to the fact that ‘it embraces age, race and sexuality’ as being very important to her. Netflix The 58-year-old actress, who lives in Brixton, is one of the biggest stars in the TV series. In fact, without Lady Danbury, it would have been a no-show. For right from the start, this formidable lady holds her head up high on set arriving in regal London to welcome the handsome Duke of Hastings. ‘Such a wonderful man in so many ways,’ is how she describes actor Rege-Jean Page. ‘I did have a motherly affection towards him though as he is the same age as my kids.’ View this post on Instagram A post shared by Adjoa Andoh (@adjoa.andoh) ‘What I love about Regé, I suppose we share a sort of an African-British history in our own personal background.’ A loyal, highly intelligent and, at times, brash character, we ask Adjoa if she resembles Lady Danbury in any way. ‘I was brought up with tough love, you worked hard but you were always there for one another and that is the same as Lady Danbury.’ Netflix Thrilled that the Shonda Rhimes-produced period drama has been a welcome distraction during the pandemic, Adjoa adds; ‘It’s such a strange time in everyone’s lives and we’ve got this little shiny nugget called Bridgerton providing a bit of light in dark times.’ Season 2 of Bridgerton begins production Spring 2021.
