YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Celebrity Amanda Holden shares poignant tribute to her stillborn son By Sophie Hines - February 2, 2022 Amanda Holden has been flooded with supportive messages after sharing a moving post on her Instagram, commemorating the loss of her stillborn son Theo. She posted a photo of tiny footprints on what would’ve been his eleventh birthday, captioning the post ‘You would have been 11 today. I’m still grateful you chose us for your journey .. #Theo ’. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Amanda Holden (@noholdenback) Theo was stillborn 28 weeks into Amanda’s pregnancy. She described in her 2013 memoir No Holding Back how she had got up and had a bath on the morning of 1 February 2011, when she noticed that she hadn’t felt him kicking in a while. She drove to hospital for a scan to reassure herself, but was told, ‘The baby’s heart is not beating. He’s gone’. She wrote about hearing her own screams as though they were someone else’s. The Britain’s Got Talent judge and her husband Chris Hughes then made the devastating decision to have a caesarean following Theo’s passing. Amanda and husband Chris. Chris is my absolute rock and means everything to me’ she said. Amanda had her second daughter, Hollie, 11 months after the stillbirth. She told YOU: ‘Theo will always be part of our family. He would have been a year older than Hollie. I often look at the children in the year above her and think, “Oh yes, today Theo would have been doing this”. It’s not something to get over, but I’ve got my head round it.’ Getty According to baby loss charity Tommy’s, one in every 225 in pregnancies in 2020 ended in stillbirth. Around 60% of these instances are unexplained. Studies have also shown that women who had stillbirths were twice as likely to have depression compared to those who had live births, which is why it’s so important to break the taboo around this subject and allow people to feel that they can talk about their losses.
