Starring former YOU cover girl Sophie Rundle and Line of Duty‘s Martin Compston, the chilling new drama has been written by BAFTA-winner Nicole Taylor and promises to have the nation hooked – especially after you see the first look images. BBC The BBC has released a set of pictures teasing the new five-part thriller. But that’s not all the information we have. Here’s everything you need to know about The Nest before it airs… What is The Nest about The drama follows couple Dan (played by Compston) and Emily (played by Rundle) who live in a gorgeous home outside Glasgow and have a lovely life together. However, all they long for is a baby. BBC ‘Dan and Emily are crazy about each other. They live in a huge house in a beautiful location just outside Glasgow and want for nothing. All that’s missing is a baby – and they’ve been trying for years,’ read the show’s synopsis. ‘Through a chance encounter they meet Kaya (Mirren Mack), an 18-year-old from the other side of the city, whose life is as precarious at theirs is comfortable. When Kaya agrees to carry their baby, it feels like they were meant to meet, but was it really by chance?’ The series will explore this by diving into Kaya’s character, who she is and what brought her to the couple. ‘The Nest is an emotional thriller about love and money, and the price of being able to buy whatever you want,’ the synopsis continues. Nicole Taylor is one of the most exciting and original voices in writing today, I’m chuffed we’re finally working together. Combined with filming in Glasgow and going back onto BBC One in my native west coast accent makes it a dream scenario.’ BBC The role of Kaya will be played by Mirren Mack. The series will also star Shirley Henderson (Stan and Ollie, Happy Valley), Katie Leung (Strangers, Chimerica), David Hayman (Hatton Garden, Fisherman’s Friends), Fiona Bell (Shetland, Acceptable Risk), James Harkness (The Victim, Wild Rose), Bailey Patrick (London Kills, Good Omens), Kate Dickie (Game of Thrones, The Witch), Paul Brannigan (The Angels’ Share, Under The Skin) and Samuel Small (So Awkward, Game of Thrones).
