That’s why we’re here to help you make the most of them, by showing you exactly how to book your out of office days strategically in order to get more time off. Getty Images Now that we’re officially in autumn, it’s time to start thinking about the year ahead – and more specifically, the holidays we will be planning. But of course, in order to do that, we’ll need get secure some time off work. Luckily, it looks like the 2020 calendar is set up so it is possible for us to get up to 60 days off work while using just 28 annual leave days, though once the secret is out, you’ll have to beat your co-workers to it. Here’s the breakdown: Firstly, take a 14-day holiday by only booking seven days off when requesting days off around the festive period when we get all the bank holidays. This means booking off 23 December till 5 January. Getty Images Easter falls on Sunday 12 April next year which means there will be two bank holidays with one on each side of the weekend (Friday 10 and Monday 13). Take an 11-day holiday by booking five days off: 9 April to 19 April. Then in May, you can get even more time out of the office as booking off 8 to 25 will get you an 18-day holiday while only using 10 days of annual leave. How dreamy would that be? Then we have the late summer season in August and September. If you fancy one last summer getaway, take 29 August to 6 September off to get nine holiday days in a row while only using four annual leave days, once again thanks to bank holiday and weekends. And that’s not all. As always, the best time to maximise your annual leave days in 2020 is around Christmas time. Next year Christmas Day and Boxing Day fall on a Friday and Saturday which means that the following Monday (28 December) will be a bank holiday. That means just like Easter, you could once again book annual leave days either side of Christmas weekend meaning you can get eight days of holiday by booking just two days off: 28 December to 4 January. Overall, that will result in only 28 days annual leave used for an entire 60 days off. Right, we’re off to send our requests in immediately!
