Getty Images The research conducted by holiday-making website On The Beach, has found that a European beach holiday is up to 66 per cent cheaper than a staycation in Britain. The result came after the prices of trains and hotels in the UK were compared to the endless deals and discounted prices offered to Brits for beach holidays across Europe this summer. As reported by Prima, On the Beach looked into how much a one-week stay in a three-star hotel on a bed and breakfast basis would cost a family of four both in the UK and several counties in Europe. After weighing up the two, it was clear that staycations would surprisingly be much more of a financial hit than travelling abroad in seven out of 10 cases. Getty Images In fact, the research showed that a holiday in Brighton would set you back £2,558.96, while a gorgeous getaway to Bodrum in Turkey would be an impressive £958.96 cheaper, coming in at just £1,021. It also highlighted that a holiday to Marmaris in Turkey would be 36 per cent cheaper than a week in Margate, while you could be making a 10 per cent saving by flying out to Benidorm instead of taking your family to Southport. Who would have thought, eh? The news comes after it was recently reported that Brits are choosing staycations over holidays abroad more than ever before. A survey by Travelodge revealed that almost three out of five people will have their annual summer holiday in the UK this year, a 2 per cent increase compared to last year. Though perhaps that might change now!
