The 58-year-old dancing queen, and recent YOU cover star, will be playing cupid in a brand new dating segment coming to This Morning called Matchmaker Mountain. Sounds exciting? Wait til you hear the rest. Getty Images ‘I’m joining This Morning and on a mission to help you find love! As a woman in my fifties, I know that the idea of dating later in life can be scary. But that’s where I can help,’ said Shirley previously. The star will be jetting off to sunny Morocco to help 50 singletons find true love – and it turns out she may have found a romance of her own while working on the upcoming segment. Appearing as a guest on Lorraine Kelly’s breakfast show on Tuesday, the star revealed the news after Lorraine questioned her. ‘Have you found someone?’ Lorraine asked. ‘Can you say or is it too early?’ While Shirley didn’t give a straight answer at first, she did look rather flustered and immediately had a huge smile on her face when the question was asked, and we can all guess what that means. However, she eventually gave in after Lorraine followed her question up by asking if it was too soon to reveal the news. Getty Images ‘Probably. Well yes, I’ve met somebody nice,’ Shirley admitted. ‘I had the best Christmas ever being in pantomime. It was just the best Christmas ever in my entire life.’ Interesting – perhaps her new love interest in a colleague from her recent pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk? We’ll have to wait and see – time will tell. As stated in her YOU cover interview, Shirley’s been single for three years since splitting with dancer Yegor Novikov who was 26 years her junior. ‘Since then, I tried to join this upmarket dating service in Los Angeles but when I told them I wanted someone older than me, they said: “No darling, those guys want someone who is 20 years younger than them.”‘ she explained. ‘It’s difficult; as an older woman the body will always start to wrinkle. You think, if only men could look at you and see inside you as a human, but instead I feel invisible.’ Luckily, it sounds like that has all changed for Shirley!
