YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Life The best day for online dating is apparently 6 January By You Magazine - January 4, 2019 Dating app Hinge has revealed that its biggest day for online dating – and it’s right around the corner. Apparently, the first Sunday after the new year (coined ‘Dating Sunday’) sees a spike in dating app conversations and arranging dates. Hinge analysed data to find that the day is usually the busiest in terms of online activity, be it responding to potential love interests, starting up new conversations or actually setting up dates. Getty Images It was discovered that in 2018, the first Sunday in the new year saw a rise of 59 per cent in people starting conversations, in comparison to the week before. Similarly, 62 per cent more people set up dates, 20 per cent more conversations took place and there was a 36 per cent rise in response to messages. This year, ‘dating Sunday’ falls on 6 January, so this weekend is predicted to be a big one for online daters. The reason for the increase is presumably because dating works into singleton’s plans of starting the year afresh and trying new things. Hinge is not the only dating app that agrees ‘dating Sunday’ is a very real phenomenon. Top competitor Tinder told online publication Bustle that their busiest day is also the first Sunday in the new year, and even confirmed that on this day in 2017, an incredible 44 million matches were made on the app. Getty Images Commenting on the peak in numbers, Rosette Pambakian, Vice President of Brand Marketing & Communications told Bustle: ‘After the party is over, people are focused on accomplishing the goals they have set for themselves for the new year — that’s exactly when Dating Sunday rolls around.’ ‘People have resolved to be more adventurous and try something new, so we’ve noticed that more and more people sign on to Tinder during the first Sunday of the month.’ So if you’re single, this weekend may just be the perfect time to start your 2019 search for love!
