YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Celebrity The Great British Bakeoff 2020 has officially been delayed By You Magazine - March 31, 2020 The coronavirus outbreak has understandably led to a number of high profile events being cancelled, from festivals to sporting occasions. Television has also been affected, with popular soaps having to temporarily shut down shop while filming is unsafe. And the latest TV show to have been affected is none other than the Great British Bake Off 2020. Rex Features Rumours had been swirling over whether the series would still be taking place this year, and the news that filming has been postponed has now been confirmed, when A Love Productions spokesperson told Deadline: ‘We continue to monitor the situation and follow the advice of Public Health England and we will delay filming on Bake Off until it is safe to proceed.’ Although there is currently no confirmed date as to when filming will begin or indeed when the show will appear on our TV screens, new presenter Matt Lucas did tell BBC Radio 2 last week that there is a hope it can get underway within weeks rather than months, but that it was still set to be ‘a bit delayed’. Channel 4 Usually, filming for the show happens between the months of April and July, so it is easy to see why the current global situation may delay the process. After these months of filming, GBBO is then broadcast in the autumn, so depending on the delay and turnaround speed, we could see a later air date for the 2020 series. Rex Features This news comes shortly after Sandi Toksvig announced she would no longer be a part of the show, and that Noel Fielding would be presenting without her from 2020. Shortly afterwards, it was revealed that Little Britain star Matt Lucas would be taking over as one of the presenters. If you want to get your baking fix, you can still watch the Stand Up To Cancer celebrity episodes of GBBO on All 4 now.
