Their iconic serums are known throughout the beauty industry and beyond. So the news that the brand will now be releasing its very first mask is sure to excite fans. The new product, the Salicylic Acid 2% Masque, is designed for acne-prone skin and targets breakouts like a dream. It is also excellent for clogged pores which need a deep clean, as well as uneven skin textures and tone. Essentially, it’s a one stop shop for all of your biggest skincare concerns. The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Masque, £9.90, available on 29th May. The formula, which is enriched with clay and mud, deeply cleanses and exfoliates, and should be applied twice weekly on clean skin for ten minutes. The Ordinary already sell a salicylic formula (Salicylic Acid 2% Solution), but this new addition differs from its predecessor, as it comes in a wash off formula to give a more targeted boost. Describing how the new mask works, The Ordinary says: ‘The structure of salicylic acid facilitates its lipophilicity and miscibility with the lipids located on the surface of the skin. It is a suitable ingredient for targeting the removal of dead skin cells on the surface of oily and blemish-prone skin, with the purpose of revealing more radiant skin beneath.’ They continue: ‘Charcoal and clays are ingredients renowned for their deep cleansing abilities due to their porosity and large surface area available for adsorption. They aid the removal of facial impurities that would otherwise remain on the skin surface and clog pores.’ Getty The brand does note that the mask is not suitable for sensitive or peeling skin, so this is best left to more robust skin types. It also reminds us to wear sunscreen following usage, as the formula contains a BHA (Beta Hydroxy Acid), which enhances sun sensitivity. The best news about the mask is it is £9.90, meaning clear, even skin is under a tenner away.
