Minecraft x Super Smash Bros Has Been Trying To Happen For ‘ Years’ 2 October 2020 by Lara Jackson Nintendo has officially revealed the next fighter coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is none other than Steve from Minecraft. The news shocked the entire Smash community, and it turns out the collaboration may have been trying to get off the ground for a long, long time. Mojang co-founder Daniel Kaplan took to Twitter following the reveal to speak a little more about the idea [via VGC]. Though Kaplan has since left Mojang, the developer claims that the idea of Steve coming to Super Smash Bros. was planted “at least five years ago.” 3 is not enough. At least five- Kaplan (@Kappische) October 1, 2020 That’s a long time to get the collaboration off the ground – let’s hope it’s worth the effort!ADVERT ADVERT Fans were thoroughly impressed with the big reveal of Steve, though the presentation didn’t give too much away about the upcoming fighter. Nintendo has confirmed another Minecraft Super Smash Bros. showcase is coming this month, and it’ll offer a deep-dive into Steve’s moves, the various skins for Steve (including Alex), and the new Minecraft-inspired arenas we can expect to play in. The release date for the new fighter will also be revealed during the event. Credit: Nintendo/Mojang Steve is part of the Fighters Pass Vol. 2, which introduced Min Min earlier this year. The Smash Bros Ultimate Fighter Pass. Vol. 2 is a beast of a DLC, giving you access to six Challenger Packs as they’re released. They’ll be distributed sequentially by the end of 2021, so there’s going to be plenty for you to try out! Each Challenger Pack comes with a new fighter (the rest are yet-to-be-announced), a new stage and multiple music tracks.ADVERT ADVERT Want to see more from GameByte?
