Show Producer Gives Update On HBO’ s The Last Of Us Series 28 September 2020 by Lara Jackson The producer and writer of HBO’s The Last of Us series has taken to social media to update fans on the show’s progression. Craig Mazin, who also created HBO’s stellar Chernobyl mini-series, took to Twitter to celebrate The Last of Us Day, a day which marks both the outbreak of the games’ cordyceps virus, as well as the birthday of hero Joel Miller. Here he told eager fans that despite a lack of public updates, things are definitely moving forward with the show behind the scenes.ADVERT ADVERT Credit: HBO/Naughty Dog “These days, all of my days are #TheLastofUsDay… and that’s how I like it,” Mazin tweeted. “People have been asking for updates. I can’t say much, but I can say this: we are working hard. Ideas have taken root in our brains and are starting to sprout up and out of our heads.” These days, all of my days are #TheLastofUsDay… and that's how I like it.People have been asking for updates. ADVERT ADVERT Although not too much is known about the project as of yet, we do know it’ll be based on the first game in the series, and Mazin has previously teased that we’ll be seeing more than we got to see in the 2013 game. Speaking with BBC Radio 5 Live earlier this year, Mazin confirmed the inclusion of content that was cut from the game, though promised it’s all going to be handled in the correct way. You couldn’t stop me from doing that.’ So we’re doing that,” said Mazin.ADVERT ADVERT “And there’s quite a few things like that where it’s not like, ‘Oh, we just decided, oh, wouldn’t it be cool if there was one episode where Joel and Ellie get on motorcycles and confront a motorcycle gang?’ That’s not what we do. There’s no episodic nonsense here. This is all pretty much curated. The things that are new and enhancing of the storyline we’re doing are connected in organic, serious ways that fans and newcomers alike will appreciate.” It definitely sounds exciting, and I’m more than ready to hear more!
