Call Of Duty Modern Warfare Is Now 227GB On PC 10 August 2020 by Lara Jackson Call of Duty’s fifth Season is officially here, and both Modern Warfare and the free-to-play Battle Royale have had a significant update. Sadly, it’s not great news for those with limited hard drive space – especially those on PC. Call of Duty players have been complaining about the size of both games for a while now, with each new Season eating up more and more of your computer and console space. With the introduction of the fifth Season, PC players are reporting a mammoth 227GB has been dedicated solely to Modern Warfare – a number which is a huge cause for concern. Modern Warfare is Now 227 GB on PC from r/pcgaming It was previously confirmed by Infinity Ward that future game updates would work to decrease the overall size of Call of Duty, but only on console. PC players have been left in the sidelines, with one Reddit user asking in a now-viral post: “I wonder if IW cares about the PC install size. I’m not sure if ‘file compression’ is a known term on their developer team.”ADVERT ADVERT Credit: Activision Before the launch, Modern Warfare product director Paul Haile took to Twitter to explain a little more about Season Five’s scale, confirming that the overall plan for CoD is to reduce its massive file size on console. “Season 5 is coming soon, and it’s big,” Haile said. “With the update, we’re including all the new content for the season as well as optimising our asset packs. This means the download will be big, but the overall size of the game will actually shrink on your consoles after you download the patch, even though we’re adding a bunch of new content for the season. this means the download will be big, but the overall size of the game will actually shrink on your consoles after you download the patch, even though we're adding a bunch of new content for the season.- Paul Haile (@Tyrael) August 2, 2020 “It’s a priority for us to keep working on reducing the overall size of MW and WZ on your hard drives, but at the same time also delivering new seasons for everyone to enjoy. We’ll continue to work on this and keep pushing space reductions out with future updates.”ADVERT ADVERT There’s no news yet on whether something will be put in place for PC gamers, but let’s hope so!
