Written by the ever-impressive Greg Russo, the upcoming game-to-movie adaptation has gotten a lot of people hyped, but it isn’t the only video game project Russo has his sights on.ADVERT ADVERT Credit: NetherRealm Studios Speaking to ComicBook, Russo admitted that he’d love to find a way to bring the iconic 2K Games and Irrational Games title, BioShock, to the big screen. “I would love to figure out a way to do BioShock and I’ve tried,” said Russo. “I’ve been like elbowing everybody I can possibly find, because I think I have a really awesome way to do it that would be really fun. And bring the horror of it to the forefront and hopefully keep the budget at a manageable price. But yeah, that’s one that I’d absolutely adore, that be a lot of fun to work on.” Credit: 2K Games The 2007 game is a staple title for millions of gamers across the globe, and it’s the first game in a series that’s been sorely missed during this generation of consoles.ADVERT ADVERT Featuring a creepily quiet dystopian world, Big Daddies, Little Sisters and one of the best plots of any game ever, BioShock really does have the potential to be a great horror movie. Unfortunately, video game movies are still looked down on by the gaming community thanks to the mostly-terrible adaptations we’ve seen in the past. Credit: 2K Games Detective Pikachu is widely considered to be the only video game-based movie that’s broken that tradition and is actually good, though it’s hoped that upcoming video game movies including Uncharted and Netflix’s The Witcher (despite being based on the books, not the games) are also set to be groundbreaking. ADVERT ADVERT Credit: 2K Games Personally I’m totally here for a BioShock movie! Bring it on. Mortal Kombat is slated to hit movie theaters on March 5, 2021.
