It's typical to see her every morning, so her sudden absence was jarring — especially considering that she previously took a break from the show in 2012 due to a bone marrow transplant. So did Robin leave for her health again? Sadly, yes — Robin tested positive for COVID-19. On Jan. 20, the GMA co-anchor took to Twitter to explain her absence: "I appreciate the concern about my absence this week on GMA. Unfortunately, I tested positive for COVID. Grateful my symptoms have been mild and that I’m doing well. Looking forward to returning as soon as I can."Article continues below advertisement According to Page Six, Robin is one of the many TV hosts and anchors who has contracted the coronavirus. Earlier this month, Today show co-anchors Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie were battling COVID-19. Not to mention, late-night TV hosts Jimmy Fallon, Seth Meyers, and James Corden also tested positive for the virus.Source: Getty ImagesArticle continues below advertisement Why is Robin Roberts working from home As required by the CDC and most major institutions today, Robin had to enter quarantine when she tested positive for COVID-19. The traditionally-allowed time for recovery from the virus has been about ten days for a large swathe of the pandemic. However, recent information from the CDC has stated that a patient who has tested negative after five days and is no longer experiencing symptoms of the virus can return to work. Robin isn't letting her COVID-19 diagnosis stop her from delivering the morning's news to America. Working from her home studio in Connecticut, Robin is still hosting Good Morning America as she regularly would. Despite all of this, the host has not noted the exact date that she will return to working on the show in-studio.Article continues below advertisement Coming up this Wednesday morn @GMA...looking forward to joining from my home studio in CT. "I say we are thriving and believe we are thrivers."Article continues below advertisement When the Good Morning America anchor underwent a bone marrow transplant to treat Myelodysplastic Syndrome, she wanted to define herself, not let her illness define her. "I had a choice," she wrote on Thriver Thursday's page, "let my illnesses define me and give into my difficult circumstances, or embrace my experience as a 'rebirth.' I refused to look back and only looked forward. Like many others, I chose to thrive, not just survive." That drive is what led her to create Thriver Thursdays, a "social initiative" that spotlights thrivers like herself. "People who persevere, achieve their goals and even surpass them despite life-altering circumstances. It's everything from people who have experienced a catastrophic diagnosis, unexpected loss, unemployment, divorce, or personal betrayal. These are people who were faced with a choice and they chose to thrive."Article continues below advertisement View this post on Instagram It's a new year and we have a new episode of @rocknrobintv digital series #ThriverThursday!
