Who Was Eliminated on 'The Amazing Race' Season 33?Home > Television > Reality TV > The Amazing RaceSource: CBS Who Has Been Eliminated on ' The Amazing Race' Season 33 so Far By Distractify StaffFeb. 17 2022, Updated 8:45 a.m. ET Spoiler alert: This article contains significant spoilers for those who aren't caught up with Season 33 of The Amazing Race. The Amazing Race officially returned for a 33rd season on Jan. 5, and 11 teams started the competition by traveling from their respective hometowns to London, England. The first three legs of the race were filmed in February of 2020 (just a few weeks before the COVID-19 lockdowns began in the United States). After a production shutdown occurred, the remaining teams returned to filming in September of 2021.Article continues below advertisement The season has been unique in many ways, but one thing will always stay the same: Host Phil Keoghan knows how to keep the viewers on edge at the Pit Stops. The longtime host has the power to end a team's race or to give the duos another chance at the $1 million prize. So, who has already been sent home on The Amazing Race?Source: CBSArticle continues below advertisement After the race' s third leg ' The Amazing Race' went on hiatus for COVID-19 In a historical season (like most 2020 and 2021 television), The Amazing Race had to pause the race for the first time ever in its 33 seasons. Phil Keoghan addressed the remaining nine teams after the third leg in Glasgow. "We believe the best choice for all of us is to suspend the race,” he said. “In an ideal world, the planets will align, and we will pick this race back up again and hopefully have all of you starting the race again." At the end of the second episode, only five teams appear to come back when the race picks up in Switzerland, which means they lost four teams during the hiatus. Phil almost predicted it when he initially told the contestants, "We understand the sacrifices that all of you have made; I know to have you all come back and start on this race again would be challenging.”Article continues below advertisementSource: CBS The returning teams were Lulu and Lala, Kim and Penn, Akbar and Sheri, Ryan and Dusty, and Raquel and Cayla. During the hiatus, the teams we lost were Anthony and Spencer, Taylor and Isaiah, Connie and Sam, and Ray and Caro. Although two teams had already been eliminated — Michael and Moe, and Arun and Natalia — both of those teams were welcome back when the race picked up in its third leg to make up for the four teams lost.Article continues below advertisement Here's every team that has been eliminated by coming in last place during an elimination leg since The Amazing Race picked back up after the 19-month COVID-19 hiatus. 1 Michael Norwood Jr and Moe BadgerSource: CBS The Buffalo "Singing Cops" and friends became the unlucky first team to get eliminated after they arrived on the mat last during the initial London leg. The pair spent a lot of time trying to figure out the Detour, which ultimately cost them their shot at the $1 million prize. But Michael and Moe make it back into the competition after the Amazing Race hiatus. Unfortunately, while completing the belt task in Switzerland, the pair realize they did theirs completely backward! As a result, they're eliminated first ... yet again.Article continues below advertisement 2 Akbar and Sheridan CookSource: CBS On the French island of Corsica, Akbar and Sheri Cook passed the first detour with flying colors but ran into a Road Block that included jumping into a river through caves to the next clue. Then, teams were directed to go to the Calacuccia Dam. Once there, they had to pump up a kayak and paddle their way to the pit stop. Sadly, Akbar and Sheridan showed up last, and host Phil Keoghan confirmed they were eliminated. 3 Lulu and Lala GonzalezSource: CBS Lulu and Lala were the fan-favorite twins and radio stars, but now, they've been eliminated during the race's eighth leg. Unfortunately for them, the leg in Greece was just not their jam. They sped through the first Road Block but got so lost on the way to the next one that they ended up accidentally at the pitstop. When they finally found the souvlaki stand, they took longer than any other team to figure out that the clue was in the souvlaki's wrapping. This set them back far enough to be eliminated.Article continues below advertisement One team that hasn't been eliminated, but is worth mentioning as a major underdog is Arun and Natalia. This father-daughter pair is now the cat with nine lives. After the most recent non-elimination round, Phil racked his brain to figure out if any team had been given more "second" chances. They were the second team eliminated before the COVID-19 hiatus, and then they came in last during both non-elimination legs. Will the next leg be their downfall? The Amazing Race airs on Wednesdays at 9 p.m. EST on CBS.AdvertisementMore from Distractify 'The Amazing Race' Season 33 Filmed in Multiple Countries During the COVID-19 Pandemic How COVID Changed Season 33 of 'The Amazing Race': A Private Plane and...
