Snoop Dogg Wants U.S. Women's Soccer Team To Be Paid Same As "Sorry-Ass Men's" TeamHome > Entertainment > Celebrity > Snoop DoggSource: Instagram Snoop Dogg Wants U S Women' s Soccer Team to be Paid Same as Sorry-Ass Men' s TeamBy Mark PygasJul. 9 2019, Updated 9:30 a.m. ET On Sunday, the U.S. women’s national soccer team beat the Netherlands to win the Women's World Cup, the fourth time they've taken home the trophy. For those keeping count, that's four more times than the U.S. men's national soccer ream have won the World Cup. But despite their success, and the fact that women's soccer games now generate more revenue than the men's team, the players on the women's team still earn about 38 cents to the dollar compared to their male counterparts. Article continues below advertisement An ongoing lawsuit against the U.S. Soccer Federation by 28 members of the U.S. women’s national soccer team states that if the men’s and women’s teams won each of the 20 non-tournament games they are contractually required to play women could earn a maximum of $99,000 ($4,950 per game), while men’s team players would earn $263,320 ($13,166 per game). The secondary ticket market for #USA-#FRA is exploding. Women's World Cup TV audiences around the world are setting unexpected records. USWNT revenues exceeded USMNT's for 3 years. In fact, upon winning the tournament, the crowd watching the show at Parc Olympique Lyonnais in France broke out into a chant demanding equal pay. And one of those supporting the call for the women's team to be paid more fairly is rapper Snoop Dogg, who took to Instagram on Monday to slam the difference in pay. Shout out to the USA Women’s Soccer Team for their fourth World Cup, but what I want to talk about is that they only get $90,000 per player, but the men, if they win, they get $500,000 per player,” Snoop said. He went on to call for the women's team to be paid as much as the "sorry-ass" men's team, who are yet to secure a World Cup victory. “The sorry-ass f*****g men from the U.S. men’s soccer team may never win s**t, ain’t ever win s**t, can’t even get out the f*****g first round. Man, pay them ladies, man. Pay the girls what they’re worth.” According to CNN, the prize for the 2018 men's World Cup stood at $400 million, while the female players will receive $30 million for their victory. FIFA President Gianni Infantino said that the organisation will double the prize pool for 2023, but that's not good enough for team captain Megan Rapinoe, who scored a goal in the final and slammed FIFA in a news conference on Saturday. "It certainly is not fair," she said. "We should double it now and use that number to double it or quadruple it for the next time." Snoop Dogg's fans seemed to largely agree with the sentiment, with one writing: "Exactly! And they played teams around the world! Not just other US teams. They deserve even more money! It’s the crazy old school mindset." While another added: "You've always been a real one supporting the women! Like the lady of rage."
