"We went on a date at The Wolseley in London, and she really fell for me at my worst, physically and hair-wise." Meanwhile, Lily told the Times that it was her first-ever date. "I had never been on a date! I was so anxious." But they got on like a house on fire anyway. They made one of their first public appearances in the fall of 2019, attending an SNL afterparty together. David decided to pop the question a few months later, in the spring of 2020. David told Jimmy Kimmel that he proposed right before the COVID-19 pandemic. "We went and registered, like, the night before. We were just trying to get in and out, real quick." David said. "It was like it was funny we did it, it was Sept. 7, 2020, in Las Vegas, we went for just like a day. We had to do it. We got engaged right before the pandemic."
