In addition to the aforementioned requirements, a postgraduate degree is also regarded as one of the minimally acceptable credentials for other specialists. Medical Specialist (E3 Grade) The minimal requirement for general surgery, general medicine, and pulmonary medicine is an MBBS from an accredited medical school or college with a recognized postgraduate degree or doctoral degree (DNB). For other Specialists, a Post Graduate Diploma is also one of the minimal requirements for eligibility in addition to the aforementioned qualifications. Sr. Medical Officer (E2 Grade) MBBS from an accredited college or university, as recognized by the Indian Medical Council. Sr. Medical Officer-Dental (E1 Grade) BDS with one year of post-qualification experience at a hospital or clinic from a recognized institute or college that has been approved by the Dental Council of India. Age Limit The age of the senior medical specialist (E4 grade) is 42 for general/UR. For General/UR, Senior Medical Officers (including Dental) and Medical Specialists in E3 Grade are 35 years old.
