Black Friday Xbox controller deals 2022 what we expect to see By Patrick Dane published 22 September 2022 Here's how get the best Black Friday Xbox controller deals in 2022 (Image credit: Future) Jump to: Today's best sales Our predictions Last year's deals Xbox Controller buying tips 3 best Xbox Controllers This Black Friday, Xbox controllers are undoubtedly going to be high on most Microsoft gamers' lists. It never hurts to have a spare pad lying around, and the biggest deal period of the year is the best way to fill out your existing collection. The great thing about the current line of controllers from the brand is that they work for all of the current systems in the console family. That means, across the Xbox One and the Xbox Series XS, as long as they are the official controller, you will be able to use it on a current Xbox System. Now might be the best time to buy any you might need in the future too. Prices for consoles seem to be moving in the opposite direction we might expect, as recently the PS5 has gotten a price hike. Thus far, Xbox said it wouldn't hike console prices, but Phil Spencer also hasn't outright ruled it out either. You'll want to be sitting pretty just in case hardware does see an increase. However, not all Xbox controllers are the same. There are a lot of different colors which can sell for various prices, as well as different models. The core Xbox wireless controller is obviously the most known, but there is also the Xbox Elite controller full to the brim with customization. On top of that, third-party controllers for the Xbox systems have also come a long way and are a generally cheaper way to game. You could even look for the best Xbox game deals to get even more savings. Black Friday will kick off the day after Thanksgiving, starting on November 25. While official Xbox controllers haven't historically seen an enormous price drop on Black Friday, several have seen a drop off in the periods between September and the end of November. You may have to be diligent to get the absolute best deals, but from now until the end of the year, it's time to set up your alerts. That said, it's a great time to find those harder-to-find colors that you may be looking for as stock comes in. Here we will brief you on what to expect out of the Black Friday period and the best places to look around to beef out your selection, whether it be to have an extra pad to play locally, have a backup, or even upgrade to the Elite. Here's what you need to know about the Xbox controller Black Friday deals. Today s best Xbox controller sales Xbox controllers don't historically drop their price heavily during Black Friday, however, we are currently in the period when we should expect to start seeing some discounts. Last September Xbox controllers saw a cut in price through a portion of that month, so it's definitely worth coming and checking back regularly. Or, if you can't wait, here's the best place to find potential deals right now.   US Xbox controller deals  Amazon: cheaper pads and gaming devices (opens in new tab) Microsoft: the home of official Xbox controllers (opens in new tab) Best Buy: Xbox gamepads in a range of colors and decent discounts (opens in new tab) Walmart: groceries and Xbox controllers side by side (opens in new tab) GameStop: Xbox Series and Xbox One controllers at decent prices (opens in new tab) Target: official Xbox gamepads on sale now (opens in new tab)   UK Xbox controller deals  Amazon: great selection of pads (opens in new tab) John Lewis: cheap 2-year protection plan (opens in new tab) Argos: many great third-party and official option (opens in new tab) Currys: Excellent selection of official colors (opens in new tab) Very: Elite Series 2 from £142.99 (opens in new tab) More of today's best Xbox Controller deals (opens in new tab) (opens in new tab) (opens in new tab)$43.49 (opens in new tab)View Deal (opens in new tab)Reduced Price (opens in new tab) (opens in new tab)$59.88 (opens in new tab)$44 (opens in new tab)View Deal (opens in new tab)Reduced Price (opens in new tab) (opens in new tab)$59.99 (opens in new tab)$49.99 (opens in new tab)View Deal (opens in new tab) (opens in new tab) (opens in new tab)$49.99 (opens in new tab)View Deal (opens in new tab) (opens in new tab) (opens in new tab)$59.99 (opens in new tab)View Deal (opens in new tab)Show More DealsWe check over 250 million products every day for the best prices When will the best Black Friday Xbox Controller deals start in 2022 Xbox Controllers will likely see cuts between the period of October and November. The classic Carbon Black controller will likely see a cut during Black Friday itself, based on previous trends. That said, that price cut will not run universally through other controller colors or the Xbox Elite Series 2 which has instead been gradually dropping in price all year. If you are looking for a specific controller that is different from the default black one, you may want to stay diligent through October and into November. However, the Turtle Beach Recon controller did see a significant drop during Black Friday itself so if you are less worried about getting an official Microsoft product, that is a great way to go. Should you wait for a Black Friday Xbox controller deal It might be worth waiting for Black Friday for an Xbox Controller deal, but it depends on how urgent your need is or how much you value saving 10%. Going by previous years, Xbox controllers don't follow a strong correlation between when they are discounted most. For the standard Carbon Black Xbox Wireless Controller, it does generally see some kind of price drop in November around Black Friday. Last year it was cheapest earlier in the month, and in 2020, it dropped in the week before Black Friday to an all-time low of £44.99. Other controllers like the Xbox Elite Series 2 have seen less predictable drops. It enjoyed a very small price cut during November but has continued to drop significantly throughout the year. Other colors like Shock Blue or Robot White have had less predictable price cuts, both having drops in price around September and October, but not necessarily November. It can be hard to predict the exact timing of the controller's price cuts, and even when it drops, it's usually somewhere between $5-$10 for the official Microsoft products. If you can hold out through October and November, then do so, but if you're in more urgent need of a controller, the price drop may not be worth it. Gaming hardware has been generally scarcer due to supply issues, so we wouldn't expect a massive drop out of line with previous years, which saw around a 10-20% drop in price. What Black Friday Xbox Controllers deaks do we expect to see We don't expect there to be any deals outside of what we've seen in previous years, at least when it comes to official Microsoft gaming pads. The only new official Xbox controller worth keeping an eye on is the Xbox Elite Series 2 White, for those that want the best controller the brand offers with an Xbox 360 slant. The Black version has seen a dip on Black Friday previously, so keep an eye on it once the sales period hits. UK The best Black Friday Xbox Controller deals last year (opens in new tab)Xbox Elite Series 2 wireless controller: £159.99 £149.99 on the official Microsoft store Unlike its US counterpart above, there's only a £10 saving on this gamepad for UK buyers. If customized gamepads are your jam, this may be one for you. (opens in new tab)PowerA Play & Charge Kit for Xbox: £14.99 £10.79 at Amazon You don't save much on this rechargeable battery kit. But, given that Microsoft's official charging kit is more expensive, this is a welcome, cheaper alternative with 28% off its retail price. How can I get the best Xbox Controller Black Friday deals (Image credit: Future) Xbox controllers with hefty price cuts don't appear all that often, as is true across a lot of gaming hardware. It can make it difficult to really find them across all the major deal periods like Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Amazon Prime Day. That said, you can use our resources by looking at the best deals on products as they happen. Check-in early, make sure you do your research (via our excellent reviews and buyer guides), and get your shopping list ready ahead of time. Finally, have a backup color or controller just in case the one you want doesn't get a huge discount. 3 best Xbox Controllers to look out for on Black Friday (Image credit: Microsoft) 1 Xbox Elite Series 2 Wireless Controller The best console controllerIncredibly comfortableHair triggersInterchangeable sticksFour extra buttonsPaddles aren't macro buttonsAccessories app isn't user-friendlyNot rechargeable The Xbox Elite Wireless Controller is simply one of the most extraordinary controllers to hit any Microsoft console since the original switch from the Duke controller to the S Controller back on the original Xbox. It's smarter, sleeker, and more versatile than the standard gamepad, and despite the pro moniker, will appeal to gamers of all skill levels. Now, with that said, no matter how great the Elite is, if you think $149.99 / £119 / AU$199.95 is too much for a controller, it won't change your mind. If the decision comes down to buying this or three new titles around the holidays, you should probably go for the extra games. But if you have the financial wherewithal to back purchases like these without losing sleep over it, the Elite Wireless Controller will help you find a newfound love for controllers and the science behind them.
