Black Friday MacBook Air deals 2022 our expert predictions By John Loeffler published 29 September 2022 How to find the best Black Friday MacBook Air deals this year (Image credit: Future) Jump to: Today's best sales Our predictions MacBook Air buying tips MacBook Air buying tips MacBook Air buying tips MacBook Air buying tips MacBook Air buying tips MacBook Air buying tips Black Friday MacBook Air deals are some of the most sought after sales of the entire holiday shopping season, and it's easy to see why. The Apple MacBook Air is possibly the world's most popular laptop and they make excellent holiday gifts. Black Friday 2022 falls on November 25, but over the past few years, we've seen Black Friday laptop deals get pushed back earlier and earlier in the week, and even earlier in the month. Many of these deals aren't usually branded as Black Friday deals, but the discounts are just as good and sometimes better than what you'd find on the big day itself. This was highlighted in a report by Adobe on consumer holiday spending (opens in new tab) in 2021, which highlighted that prices for computers generally start falling in October and bottomed out at nearly 15% less than MSRP throughout the entire month of November, before rising again in December. So its definitely worth looking for MacBook Air deals earlier than you'd think, starting as early as the second week of October, when prices on the new Apple MacBook Air (M2, 2021) could start dropping quite a bit. Of course, this is relative, since MacBooks, generally, are in such high demand that its not often that you can find them getting huge discounts the way you'd find with a lot of the best Windows laptops, best Ultrabooks, and best Chromebooks. All that said, we've been pleasantly surprised in the past, so its definitely worth looking for if you're in the market for an upgrade. To make sure you get the best Black Friday MacBook Air deal possible, we've pulled together our top expectations and predictions based off our expertise and experience covering Black Friday MacBook deals in the past few years to help you find the right MacBook Air for your needs and budget. Today s best MacBook Air sales If you can't wait for a Black Friday laptop deal and need to buy a new machine now, there are still some good laptop deals around. So, even though Black Friday itself is still over two months away, it doesn't mean you can't bag a bargain right now. If you're not in a position to wait for the very best Black Friday deals in November or you're fine saving a little bit less if it means locking in a new MacBook Air in time for the holidays, we definitely get that, and so we've pulled together the best MacBook Air deals you can get right now so you can still save big.Amazon: You can almost always find a newer MacBook Air for $100 off on Amazon (opens in new tab)Best Buy: Save $150 on the latest MacBook Air with M2 chip (opens in new tab)Walmart: A good place to find a deal on older MacBooks (opens in new tab)Adorama: Find all the latest MacBook Air models, though not as many sales (opens in new tab)Micro Center: Savings on new M2 MacBook Air models start at $100 off (opens in new tab)B&H Photo: Get the new MacBook Air with M2 for just $1,099 (opens in new tab) UK MacBook Air salesAmazon: Find MacBook Air deals for £100 off and more (opens in new tab)Argos: Savings on M1 MacBook Air models start at £70 off (opens in new tab)Box: Save as much as £229 on an M1 MacBook Air (opens in new tab)Currys: Fantastic deals on M1 and M2 MacBook Air models (opens in new tab)Ebuyer: Find deals on MacBook Air models and accessories (opens in new tab)Laptops Direct: Get £130 off the latest MacBook Air (2022) (opens in new tab)More of today's best MacBook Air dealsReduced Price (opens in new tab) (opens in new tab) (opens in new tab)$999 (opens in new tab)$899 (opens in new tab)View Deal (opens in new tab)Reduced Price (opens in new tab) (opens in new tab) (opens in new tab)$999 (opens in new tab)$899 (opens in new tab)View Deal (opens in new tab)Reduced Price (opens in new tab) (opens in new tab) (opens in new tab)$999 (opens in new tab)$949.99 (opens in new tab)View Deal (opens in new tab) (opens in new tab) (opens in new tab)$999 (opens in new tab)View Deal (opens in new tab) (opens in new tab) (opens in new tab)$999 (opens in new tab)View Deal (opens in new tab)Show More DealsWe check over 250 million products every day for the best prices Should you wait for a Black Friday MacBook Air deal With Black Friday just under two months away, a lot of buyers might wonder if its worth waiting for a good Black Friday MacBook Air deal before making their purchase. Given the current economic environment, we definitely understand that every penny counts, so if you can hold off until November 25 to make a purchase, you can probably save a decent amount of money in the process. Or, you might be able to stretch your budget to get a more powerful MacBook Air with a Black Friday deal than you'd be able to otherwise, which sill save you even more money in the long run as you won't need to buy a new MacBook for a much longer while than if you went with a lower-spec model. However, sometimes life doesn't cooperate and you might find you need to buy something sooner rather than later, so if that's the case it's ok. Fortunately, we're starting to see MacBook Air prices coming down in advance of the Black Friday shopping period, so if you can find a new MacBook for 10% to 15% off, you can feel good about the purchase. As Adobe found, this is more of less where you can expect Black Friday prices to fall anyway. (Image credit: Adobe) Black Friday MacBook Air deals our predictions (Image credit: Future) When will the best Black Friday MacBook Air deals start in 2022 Black Friday falls on November 25 this year, but we're already seeing discounts on MacBook Air models across the web. And while the biggest discounts are almost always on the big day itself, we've seen retailers push their sales back further and further so that fantastic MacBook Air deals start rolling out well before Black Friday itself, sometimes as early as the first week of November. And based on the deals we saw last year, these can be as good a bargain as any you'll see on Black Friday. If the past repeats itself this year, we expect to see more of the same this year, so if you're hunting for a real bargain, start keeping an eye out around mid-to-late October. Where will the best Black Friday MacBook Air deals be You'll find all the best Black Friday MacBook Air deals here, of course, as soon as they drop, but these are definitely the retailers you need to keep an eye on for deals as they drop throughout the holiday shopping period. US: Amazon: You can almost always find a newer MacBook Air for $100 off (opens in new tab) Best Buy: Save $150 on the latest MacBook Air with M2 chip (opens in new tab) Walmart: A good place to find a deal on older MacBooks (opens in new tab) Adorama: Find all the latest MacBook Air models, though not as many sales (opens in new tab) Micro Center: Savings on new M2 MacBook Air models start at $100 off (opens in new tab) B&H Photo: Get the new MacBook Air with M2 for just $1,099 (opens in new tab) UK: Amazon: Find MacBook Air deals for £100 off and more (opens in new tab) Argos: Savings on M1 MacBook Air models start at £70 off (opens in new tab) Box: Save as much as £229 on an M1 MacBook Air (opens in new tab) Currys: Fantastic deals on M1 and M2 MacBook Air models (opens in new tab) Ebuyer: Find deals on MacBook Air models and accessories (opens in new tab) Laptops Direct: Get £130 off the latest MacBook Air (2022) (opens in new tab) How good will this year s Black Friday MacBook deals be Generally, the MacBook Air gets some pretty decent discounting during the Black Friday shopping period, with discounts of $150 on the entry level configurations not unheard of, and an occasional $200 discount can be found if you're lucky, bringing an M1 MacBook Air with 8GB memory and 256GB storage to just below $700. As you move up the configuration stack though, the prices grow faster than the discounts, so even though the price cuts are bigger in absolute dollars, the precentages generally get smaller as well. We also don't know if the same discount patterns we've seen on the M1 MacBook Air will carry over to the M2 MacBook Air. While we expect to see at least $100 off the entry level spec, its higher initial price might mean these discounts start a bit larger than usual. What Black Friday MacBook Air deals do we expect in 2022 Black Friday is often one of the best times of the year to buy a new MacBook because there are plenty of Black Friday MacBook Air deals around the internet and in stores. We expect that the same will be the case this year, especially with the release of the M2 MacBook Air this year. Both the Apple M1 and Apple M2 MacBook Air models are likely to see healthy discounts. How can I get the best MacBook Air Black Friday deals (Image credit: Future) What specs should I look for when buying a MacBook Air on Black Friday The Apple MacBook Air is much more of an everyday computing device than a professional workstation like the MacBook Pro, so specs in this regard are fairly straight forward. While the best Black Friday MacBook Air deals are likely to be on entry-level specs (8GB memory, 256GB storage) and less popular color options, we always recommend people opt for more memory rather than more storage if they have the room in their budget for it. Memory is what the computer uses in real time to help run your apps, so the more memory, the better your apps are going to run. Storage is where you keep your saved files and programs, and while the latter is important, you can always buy external storage to save your lesser-used files to, while reserving your onboard storage for apps and files you work with regularly. There is no such thing as external working memory though, and MacBooks don't have the option to add in more memory after the fact like a lot of Windows laptops do. That means its better to buy a MacBook Air with more memory over one with more storage, and look for models that maximize your savings within that constraint. What about Black Friday MacBook Pro deals Now, you might also be wondering if the MacBook Air is the right MacBook for your needs, and that is understandable. Even though the MacBook Air is a pretty powerful device, the MacBook Pro is even more powerful, considering it's a MacBook geared more towards professional use. If you feel like you're somewhere in between the two, you can find some fantastic Black Friday MacBook Pro deals on 13-inch MacBook Pro models, including the MacBook Pro 13-inch (M2) released earlier this year. This model in particular is a perfect middle ground for those who need something more powerful than a MacBook Air but find that the M1 Pro and M1 Max MacBook Pro models are much more powerful – and expensive – than they need. Most of the models you find online now are refurbished or renewed units, but you can still find some brand new MacBook Airs with hefty discounts, even more so around Black Friday. We can expect these models to get discounts approaching 40% off the retail price in some places. Read more: MacBook Air (2020) reviewThis year's Black Friday MacBook Air deals aren't live yet, and won't be for another couple of weeks, but today's best MacBook Air deals can still help you save as much – and sometimes more – than you could get even on the big day itself.
