CD Projekt Red confirms Cyberpunk 2077 will use first-person cutscenes "100%"... with some exceptions. News by Imogen Beckhelling Contributor Updated on 3 Sep 2019 85 comments CD Projekt Red has addressed fan concerns around which camera perspective Cyberpunk 2077 will use during cut-scenes, confirming it will be "100 per cent first-person". While some of the work-in-progress Cyberpunk footage seen so far has included third-person scenes, the switch to first-person is a design choice to help with the game's immersion, global community lead Marcin Momot has explained: "Achieving full immersion in an FPP game is extremely important and the decision made by the team to go 100 per cent first person in [Cyberpunk] is something that will benefit it greatly from gameplay and storytelling perspectives," Momot wrote on Twitter. 2/2 That said, players will still be able to see their characters in the inventory screen, during driving sequences, in mirrors and, very occasionally, in some of the cut-scenes.- Marcin Momot (@Marcin360) September 2, 2019 To see this content please enable targeting cookies. So there will be some exceptions. You'll still be able to see that lovely jacket you just purchased, then, just not all the time. With CD Projekt's previous game, The Witcher 3, being in third-person, last year the developer explained why it was focusing on first-person gameplay for Cyberpunk: "With Witcher 3, you're playing Geralt and you're watching Geralt. You're controlling Geralt. He's a character, right? He's somebody who already exists. "In this game we wanted to put you in the shoes and in the body of the character you're controlling, so you feel like this is your character. First-person was one way to do that."
