Trials Rising's leaderboards and user-created tracks will be cross-platform Switch lanes. News by Matthew Reynolds Managing Editor Published on 22 Jan 2019 7 comments Aspects of Trials Rising's multiplayer will be cross-platform, publisher Ubisoft has revealed. Though player-versus-player competitive modes will be restricted to each individual platform - unlike say Fortnite and Rocket League - other features such as leaderboard progress and user-created tracks will be shared across PS4, Xbox One, PC and Switch. There are some caveats to the way it works. With ghosts, for example, "players play the track and record ghosts in leaderboards that afterwards can be accessed by players from other platforms", a spokesperson explained to Eurogamer, while track editor sharing might be bound by performance. Though Trials Rising on Switch offers all the same features as other platforms, more complicated tracks might see some restrictions. "Although we share all UGC [user generated content] tracks across all platforms we might take extra precaution in the future to indicate if a specific track can be comfortably played on a select platform," explained Ubisoft. "For instance PC tracks that might not perform so well on Switch." Trials Rising's track creator is touted as the same the developers use to make in-game courses - with a 4x4km space for players to play around with, and will feature objects from previous games in the series, including Trials Fusion and Trials of the Blood Dragon.. Meanwhile, Trials Rising features microtransactions - with "gear sharing" mentioned as another feature that will be cross-platform.
