Uwe Boll to shoot Dungeon Siege 2 movie Dolph Lundgren lending his "acting chops". News by Robert Purchese Senior Staff Writer Updated on 22 May 2019 31 comments Uwe Boll, a German filmmaker of questionable talent, has signed blonde bombshell Dolph Lundgren for another Dungeon Siege-inspired movie. Boll hasn't got the official licence this time around, so he's calling his film In The Name of the King 2 (the first film was In The Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale). The plot is best described by Boll himself: "It's like a contemporary, right now big city, and we have Dolph Lundgren basically being a cop or like a fighting coordinator working as this, and one night he gets attacked by ninjas in his house and fell with the ninjas into a vortex back in time," Boll told Bloginity recently. "And then it turns out it's like 50 years after the first part - In the Name of the King - ended, and Ehb is destroyed and everybody is dead, Jason Statham and everybody who was in the first part got wiped out. "They say [Lundgren] was basically sent into the future. He's the son of Jason Statham and he was sent into the future, brought up in an orphanage, because the parents felt that they would all die. So he is basically the last survivor of the kingdom of Ehb so he should bring the kingdom back in charge." Simple, really. Lundgren said In The Name of the King 2 was a chance for him to "exercise his acting chops once in a while" after starring in comedy The Expendables. "I play an ex-middle ages war veteran who gets f**ked up but he gets pulled into some sort of medieval power struggle, kind of gets a bit of a redemption for all his pains in service. It's a role I just wanted to play. "It's fun to exercise my acting chops once in a while. I've got to get ready for Expendables 2." Uwe Boll has an average Metacritic career review score of 18 per cent. In The Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege was panned by critics (15 per cent) but received well by users, 380 of which gave the film an average 8/10 score. In 2009, Boll got a lifetime Razzie award for Worst Career Achievement. A Dungeon Siege apparently took $5 million at the box office but cost an alleged 60 million to make. In 2006, Boll became enshrined in infamy for actually punching his critics in the face. In a boxing ring. Better still, this was videoed and uploaded to YouTube. Gas Powered Games and Microsoft Game Studios created the dungeon-crawling fantasy romp Dungeon Siege for PC. The game was released in 2002. What did Eurogamer think? "Dungeon Siege can be fairly entertaining in short bursts, but given the total lack of plot and character development there's little to keep you playing in the long run except the promise of more pretty graphics, new trinkets and more powerful enemies to kill." Dungeon Siege II faired better in 2005: "An Action RPG. Good. Extremely Good. Just not as good as Diablo II.". Dungeon Siege III is currently in development at Obsidian Entertainment for PC and, for the first time, consoles: PS3 and Xbox 360. Gas Powered Games' boss Chris Taylor will oversee the project. The third pillar release in the series will launch next year. Dungeon Siege III - the game.
