Here's our first look at Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order gameplay Got soul. News by Wesley Yin-Poole Deputy Editorial Director Updated on 8 Jun 2019 146 comments EA has unveiled gameplay of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order for the first time. At EA Play, EA revealed 15 minutes of uncut gameplay showing Fallen Order's Jedi-in-training Cal Kestis attempt to liberate wookiees on Kashyyyk. The combat looks influenced by FromSoftware games, with considered third-person melee standoffs against Stormtroopers and more powerful Empire troops that involve timed blocks and dodges. According to Game Informer, you parry with the left bumper, and enemies have a block meter you can break with attacks. Once this block meter is broken, you can do a lightsaber execution - a system that rekindles memories of FromSoftware's recent Sekiro. Cal is accompanied by BD-1, an explorer droid who is used to open doors and and heal when Cal's health is low. Game Informer reports BD-1's health canisters behave very much like Dark Souls' Estus Flasks in that you can only replenish them when you rest on your ship or at save points. Then, as you progress, you upgrade the number of healing vials you can access between rests. Meanwhile, save points respawn enemies in areas, as in Dark Souls. At one point, we see Cal freeze blaster fire in place, as Kylo Ren does in Star Wars: Episode 7 The Force Awakens, then pull the Stormtrooper who fired the blaster in font of the laser so it hits him in the back. There's also more than a whiff of Naughty Dog's Uncharted series, with climbing that sees the camera shift to an almost side-on perspective. There's wall-running, too, which seems inspired by Respawn's own Titanfall series. Also of note, Cal's mentor is Saw Gerrera, a character from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story played by Forest Whitaker.
