The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening dungeon editor shown off Key decisions. News by Tom Phillips Deputy Editor Updated on 23 Aug 2019 15 comments There's just a month to go until the utterly charming Zelda: Link's Awakening remake arrives for Switch, so it's high time Nintendo gave us a good look at its big new feature: the game's dungeon editor. Demoed below by Nintendo Europe's lovely Filippo Ghisolfi during a stretch of new gameplay not on offer on the Gamescom show floor, the dungeon editor mode lets you plug together rooms you've cleared from various dungeons. You'll get requests to make dungeon maps with certain requirements, and unlock even more rooms by clearing these. There's some interesting tidbits here - for instance, that the Boss Key for your dungeon will always be in the last chest opened. You can pick from any boss in the game to add to your dungeon, and there's the potential for new strategies here as you tackle earlier bosses with items acquired much later in the game. Another feature I'd not seen talked about before is the fact certain items in this remake are now always equipped - so you won't need to manually select the Pegasus Boots and Power Bracelet to make use of them. Finally, outside of the dungeon editor, Ghisolfi takes a peek further into the game's overworld and into its fourth dungeon, Angler's Tunnel. On the way to it, we get to hear the game's anthemic Tal Tal Heights music as well. September can't come soon enough!
