Eye-catching Mortal Kombat 11 mod adds 60fps menus, intros and fatalities Lui Kang do it. News by Wesley Yin-Poole Deputy Editorial Director Updated on 29 Apr 2019 18 comments Mortal Kombat 11 has been out a week, and PC gamers have found much to love - and much that's frustrating - about NetherRealm's latest fighting game. One of the things that's frustrated PC gamers is a 30fps cap for specific parts of Mortal Kombat 11, including the menus, the fight intros, Fatal Blows (high-damage cinematic combos) and Fatalities. Mortal Kombat 11 runs at 60fps during fights across all platforms, including Nintendo Switch (for more on this, check out Digital Foundry's report), but the frame-rate drops down to 30fps for Fatal Blows and Fatalities so, as NetherRealm has previously explained, the developers can craft better-looking moves that are consistent across all the platforms the game is available on. PC gamers had hoped to unlock this frame-rate, making the most of their beefy hardware, but the game doesn't allow you to do this. Now, inevitably, there's a mod for that. Modder Endri Lauson's 60fps and Ultrawide Mod for Mortal Kombat 11 removes the 30fps cap on the menus, intros, Fatal Blows and Fatalities, as well as the black side bars on the menus and the Krypt game mode, for those who use ultrawide monitors. "This game is amazing and deserves to be played in 60fps," Endri Lauson said. "Fans deserve to have an amazing experience. I hope you all enjoy and have fun!" Endri Lauson's mod is, as you'd expect, going down well, with some saying its features should be in the PC version of Mortal Kombat 11 by default. It's early days for the Mortal Kombat 11 modding scene, but already tinkerers are making interesting changes. I suspect in the coming weeks we'll see even more ambitious mods.
