Capcom is bringing the original Devil May Cry to Switch later this year Dante's Nintendo. News by Matt Wales Reporter Updated on 8 May 2019 26 comments Capcom is slinging another oldie-but-goodie from its enviable back catalogue onto Switch later this year, this time in the form of Hideki Kamiya's beloved Devil May Cry. Devil May Cry, which originally launched on PlayStation 2 all the way back in 2001, is a genuine hack-and-slash classic, pitting its white-haired protagonist Dante against the legions of hell. Dante's been bopping demons on the bonce ever since, and the series now has four direct sequels and one divisive reboot to its name - with its most recent entry, this year's Devil May Cry 5, marking a grand return for Capcom's iconic hero. As for the new Switch version, there's not a whole lot of information just yet, although Capcom has released a number of screenshots to accompany its original Twitter announcement. Devil May Cry fans will likely be a little disappointed that Capcom isn't going all-in and bringing last year's HD Collection (which bundled up Devil May Cry 1, 2, and 3 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC) to Switch, and is instead only porting the original. Let's hope the publisher can resist the urge to give its 18-year-old game the same kind of eyebrow-raising price tag that it slapped on its Resident Evil Switch ports when Devil May Cry arrives digitally on eShop this "summer".
